Should I Keep BB Ressie?

I am currently booked for lunch at BB on March 30th at noon. I have never been. When I made the reservation, I was planning on spending three days in the parks, so I figured I had plenty of time for a nice sit-down lunch. I have since found out that because of my work schedule, I will only be able to go to the park for two days. My sister and I were both curious about BB and wanted to experience it, but I'm not exactly dying to try it, especially since eating a big meal at noon on our first day might affect our riding abilities! Should I cancel the reservation in favor of a quick service place, to optimize our time in the parks during a busy spring break, or do you think BB for lunch is worth missing an hour or so of ride time?

Thoughts are greatly appreciated! I'm already bummed about cutting a day out of the trip, so I'm really worried about having the best possible experience.

The Blue Bayou is my favorite restuarant, so I'm a bit biased, but I'd say keep your seating time. My family went for a one day trip this last Monday and I seriously thought about making reservations, but decided since it was going to be just my two young DDs and myself, that we would skip it. As it turns out, there DG came to surprise them and my DH came to surprise all of us! (And boy did it work!) I wish I had made the reservation after all.

That being said, for a two day trip, I'd take the time to sit and eat and you can always grab something light for lunch. A bowl of their gumbo would be just about perfect, but does anyone know if they serve just their gumbo at lunch? I looked on the DISBoard menu and AllEars menu and didn't see it there. I suppose you could do the crab cakes. All in all, I found that our 11:30 seating time in December was fairly quick. I think they would have let us linger, but with the two kids, it was pretty much eat and rush back out. I sure enjoyed the atmosphere while we were there, though!

Since you have one of the first seatings, make sure you get there about ten minutes early and ask for water side seating. Just make certain all members of your party are there when they are ready to seat you or you'll lose your spot!

Durring a busy spring break week, I dont think there is any guarentee that CS will be an quicker (maybe save you 20 mins at the most), by the time you wait in line to order, then wait for your food you really are not cutting out much time
I very much enjoy the atmosphere of BB, I dont care so much about the food--decent, just nothing special.
If you and sis are willing to share a meal ,that would keep you from feeling so full mid day. Also, if you do this, just ask your server to bring an extra plate (no charge) If you ask for it to be slip, there is a fee

Thanks 3Tinks. I'd love to try the Monte Cristo - maybe I could just order one and ask for the extra plate (instead of doing a split plate charge) and just share the gumbo and the sandwich? I'm not sure if I can convince my sister to try the sandwich but we'll see. I think if I do go, I want to surprise her with the reservation. Maybe we can go on the SLOWWWWWWW rides afterward - in other words, no Maliboomer lol. Like I said I really want to go, I just didn't want to waste time, but if it's not too long I'd love to try. I'm hoping to see if I can get to Anaheim by around 9:00 PM the night before, and we're staying at Camelot, so maybe I can get into the parks for those 3 hours prior to close (midnight) and knock out a couple of rides to make up for the lost time.

Thanks! I posted before I read your reply. I think that's what I'll try!

I vote "keep it"! I love the BB and I love the food. We usually share meals - one for the adults and one for the kids and just ask for the plate afterward. :) Otherwise I feel like we waste food and I would rather not eat so much - especially when we are heading to more rides after the meal. Enjoy!

I would keep it. Even if I was there for a day, I could never skip BB. Eating there for me is as important as any ride.

The only ressie we could get was a 4pm so my 5 girlfriends and I had dessert and coffee instead of a late lunch or early dinner.
We still enjoyed the atmosphere without spending $150.

We also go to the BB every trip...it's a must. What I would suggest is to keep your PS, and then see how your days go in the parks. If you decide to skip it, skip it. No worries, you don't have to cancel your PS. (It would be worse to cancel and then regret it!)

Have fun!

I would definately do the 3 hours before closing. I found that we ride more in those 3 hours then we do from 2-8! This was during spring break last year that I learned that. By the end of the night Nemo subs and matterhorn were a walk on and SM was 10 min! We also walked onto almost everything in fantasy land, although PP was still a 10 min wait...which is better then the 45 it was during the day. Also if you get 3-day PH you get a MM which can be very beneficial during spring break. Definately try to be at rope drop as well, the first few hours are quite slow.

Also I would definately do the BB. Especially if you can squeeze those 3 hours in. The atmosphere is GREAT you almost forget its daylight outside.
