Should I just go ahead and book a 7 night MYW with Dining through AAA and then watch like a hawk for any possible codes that would lower the price more?

We're planning on going the week after Thanksgiving next year and we're probably staying at CSR (WL would be my dream). We do want dining, just because we're going with several other people and find it easier to deal with.

I'd say yes, however I would strongly suggest you 'know' your AAA TA. If you just get 'anyone' you could get unlucky and with the TA not available when a code gets published, and miss your opportunity to get the code applied.

That said, with AAA you can get a so called Dinsey specialist, that are at a call center, instead of a TA who claims to be one at a regular office with much less availability.

Finally, make sure you stress the importance of allowing another TA make modifications to your rez. Without that note on the rez, no other TA would touch it. Your TA goes on vacation for a week, a code comes out, and you cannot apply it...

Bottom line is, if you already know your dates and are comfortable with the rack rate, go for it. Note that unless you drive, the true point of 'no return' is when you book your airfare.

My .02...

I just used an agent with Small World Vacations to book our first DisneyWorld trip. She was a wealth of knowledge and had much more insight to the whole Disney thing than the AAA agent, which for us, was basically an order taker.

We booked our 7 day package and got a great deal, paid for it. She then helped us with all the ADRs. After a couple of weeks, we found out that if/when we applied for the Disney Visa, we could get free dining, she helped us with that as well and got us FREE Disney dining for our visit from 11/.12-11/19.

Even when the deal was done, she told us that she would be looking out and seeing if any new promos would come about that would bring our price down even more. Well worth it! I cannot say anything more about this group of Disney experts. I would try them first. They would be the ones helping you watch the rates and promos like a hawk.

I'd go on and book, but I wouldn't book w/ a AAA agent unless I was very familiar with her. I would either book it on my own, or I would book through a Disney specialist. I used Diana w/ Small World Vacations before I went to room-only through AAA, and she was great. She's always checking for discounts, as are other Disney specialized TA.

I'd book the ressie just to make sure I had something. Keep in mind that outside of a PIN, discounts will not be released until a few months before you leave.

We are planning an extended family trip for Thanksgiving week of 2009.

Are member of AAA and have also talked briefly with a Small World travel consultant. Can't figure out which to go with. Right now, AAA only has room discounts and nothing on package. Same through Small World.

Have only been to Disney one other time and someone else did all the planning. So I am lost.

Is it better to wait until Jan of 2009 to book and hope for discounts?
How do you get the call center Disney AAA reps? My email requests go to an
instate office and I don't know how knowledgeable they are about Disney.

Any input would be appreciated!

My only question in addition to other posters would be, are you already a AAA member? I wasn't when I booked through them, then booked AAA (and joined) for the discount which really did save me money, but at the end a good code came out and saved me even more. I could have done it without the AAA. Don't get me wrong, I love AAA for its other services, but if not already a member I would not book through them.

I am also looking to go Thanksgiving 09 and am used to disney during the lowest crowd levels and biggest discounts. Do you all think that they will release a discount from Thanksgiving thru the next week? I would think the chances of that would be slim. What % off is a AAA discount? So, do they not currently have AAA discounts out for that time period.? We would be booking packages b/c we want the dining plan. Can I book AAA thru someone other than AAA? Thanks for the info. I normally book direct with disney, but I trying to see if AAA is worth it or should I just book direct at this point.

I can only answer one of your questions. To get teh package, you MUST book through AAA. IF you were interested in room only AAA discount, you can book elsewhere. The AAA discount varies with season and hotel type, but I believe there is a link on mousesavers.com with more info.
