We are going to the party the week of Oct. 16th for the first time EVER. We have done the MVMCP a few times and the Princess and Pirate Party way back when. Is there any tips you could give me?? Anything different than the obvious of not to miss the fireworks and parades. OH let me add that it will be myself and my 17 year old son, my friend and her 15 year old son. I definitely want to see the parades, fireworks and any specialty shows. Is the trick or treating worth it?? I will have to see what characters we might want to wait in line for. TIA

Depends on your priorities and the ages of your party.
Character meets are very poplar, but it's not something we do, so no help there.
If your party doesnt include little ones, the second parade is not as crowded. Its common for families to head out after the first parade.
Always take advantage of the special photographers around, like near the Haunted Mansion.
There are several places with specialty foods for the event, like the candy corn flavored ice cream at Storybook Treats or Pumpkin Spiced Cupcakes at Gaston's.
Try to take time just to sit and people watch. Best spot on earth.

If you want to meet Jack and Sally, be in line by 4:30. If you want to meet the Seven Dwarfs, be in line by 5:30ish.

Stay away from Main Street and the hub as much as humanly possible, they get packed early and stay packed until after the second parade.

Take advantage of the midnight Hocus Pocus show, if you can!

Have fun!

I guess I should add that it will be myself and my 17 year old son. (Hubby can't make this trip this time.) :(

Thanks!! I went back and added the ages. Teen boys!!!

We tend to go to the parties plan-less.

However, the fireworks are a must as is the second showing of the parade.

After that, we fly by the seat of our pants.

Character meet and greets are not a priority for us (I'm certain I'm the only person on planet earth who has tried to watch a Nightmare Before Christmas multiple times and can't get past the first 15 minutes). If M&Gs are important to you, I believe you will need some kind of plan of attack.

We've gone 2x and never had a plan and worked out great. But we don't do character stops, just trick or treating, rides and last parade of the night. Have fun!

How is that trick or treating???? Long lines??? How about lugging the bags around that night?

The lines are a little deceptive they look super long but go by really quick. Not sure what you mean by "how is this called trick or treating"? One of us always carries a back pack and we empty all our candy from the bags into it.

LOL I meant how is it meaning.....long lines, worth it, do you do it because you have little ones? Is it a pain to haul it around all night? :)

Gotcha! We've never thought it was a pain, again we always bring a backpack and take turns carrying it.

I would at least have some sort of loose plan. Do you want to see the first or second parade, do you want to see the fireworks from in front of the castle, are you interested in the Hocus Pocus show, are there any must do character meet and greets? Check Kennythepirate.com for character meet strategies.

I don't think you need to plan down to the minute..just maybe we'll see the first parade from Frontierland, see Hallowishes from the Hub, see the midnight Hocus Pocus and meet Lotso and Jafar. Something like that. It can be easy to get overwhelmed at the party and before you know it you'll have missed the parades or something like that.

Is there a trick to getting a good spot for Hallowishes and CtM, without getting trapped in the hub?
