should I go without DH?

I took my kids for a week to DW by myself when they were 3 and 4. DH was really busy at work and isn't a big Disney fan anyway. It was awesome! We just did whatever we wanted to, and I got to relax and read at night.

Another mom of 4 who'd do it in a heartbeat. My husband works a lot and has very limited time we can do vacations as a family. I have really enjoyed trips with me and the kids...and I always feel kind of like super mom headed home with happy, sleepy kids ;) I actually entered to win a trip in late May and have talked to him about the slim chance of me winning and if he would be okay with me going alone with the kids...he was fine with it, and I'm fine with it :)

It would be DD'S 3rd trip.

Flying is not an option, I don't like to fly.

I think she'd be fine on the drive, but I just worry about doing the park with just one adult. And I think the whole time I'd be wishing DH were there.i think we'll skip it and just plan on going as soon as his new vacation time builds up, maybe spring 2016. That seems so far away :(
Drive down together on a Saturday, DH flies home Sunday night & goes to work. You & DD have the week alone. DH flies to Orlando Friday night. You drive home together Sunday. :)

We live in an area with some smaller theme parks an hour away ( king's island and Kentucky kingdom), a couple nice zoos, an aquarium, and lots and lots of summer festivals. We'll utilize those more.

We had planned to do just a simple b'day party before out trip, but since we'll be here, we can do a nicer party. And there is a concert that weekend that we were disappointed to miss, now we can go!

DH said he should have his time up enough to make a trip in the fall for MNSSHP and the food and wine festival. We are looking forward to trying these events! So it isn't so bad.

Thanks for the advice! I'm not ruling out a mom/daughter trip in the future but I just feel she's too young right now.

I don't really have any advice that hasn't already be mentioned. Only you know what your comfort level is and what will be best for your family. If you're already feeling overwhelmed at the thought of going alone then definitely wait a few years until DD is older or when DH can accompany you to help out. There's really no rush, Disney isn't going anywhere, except maybe deeper into our wallets and pocket books, LOL.

I can't say for sure if I would have taken my DD solo when she was 3 but she's now 5 and we're taking our first mother/daughter only trip this fall for 7 days. DH he has zero interest in ever going back to Disney:confused3 but he doesn't at all mind that DD and I are going:thumbsup2

We're flying this fall but I'm thinking of driving next April for our spring Dis trip. I'm on the sunnyside of Louisville so I know where you're coming from with the 12 hr drive time. BTW, Howdy neighbor :wave2:

Forgot to mention, if you haven't been, Holiday World here in southern Indiana is a serious must do destination. My DD enjoys it almost as much as Disney. It's the cleanest amusement park you will ever see in your entire life and the free drinks and sunscreen are the icing on the cake.

It seems that you've found your silver lining! That makes me happy and I think those sound like wonderful plans. I'm sure your daughter will have a blast trick-or-treating with all the characters and kids. :)

I would do it in a heartbeat.

ETA - you will have a great time no matter what you choose to do, though. Spending time as a family is the important thing - where doesn't matter :)

My husband will not be accompanying us this fall. He's going to Alaska and he doesn't have the PTO to cover all the time off in such a short amount of time. I think going alone with a 3 year old might be tough or it could be great! You could do all the super girly, princessy stuff you'd like! Is there another adult who might want to go with you?

I think this is better than going during August. We've gone in August, for the MNSSHP and during F&W and I would pick Fall over August any day.

I took my DS alone at 14months, 3, and at 5. Always have a wonderful time. I on the other hand have no choice, I am a single parent so lots of times we vacation alone. Disney is our favorite
