Should I go with a dining plan? Which One?

This is the first time a dining plan is available to us, normally we stay at SOG and prior to that I don't remember them having a dining plan, just a discounted program. Anyways, we will be there for 5 days and staying at the CRS. It will be DH, DS (8), DSS (14) DSIS, DNiece(7), and myself. The only ADR we currently have is for breakfast at Tusker House and DH wants to maybe go back to Coral Reef, but the kids really don't like the food there. In the past we have done a lot of sit down dining, but I had lap-band surgery a few months ago and don't know if it would be worth it, price-wise, to do a lot of sit-down dining. I don't know if we should just continue with OOP, like in the past. Or try one of the dining option, I am currently leaning toward QSDP but with us having to pay OOP for Tusker House and maybe Coral Reef I am just wondering if I should go with DDP :confused3 Either plan I go with I know won't be able to get my monies worth, since I eat less then 3/4 a cup per meal, but I would have to pay for buffets and such no matter if I am on a plan or not. Plus I don't want my family to miss out on anything they have grown use to, I am always able to find something off a menu I am able to eat.

Any suggestions???

I would probably do the QS plan and pay out of pocket for the one or two TS meals

If you want to do the DDP, you can request a kid's package for yourself. I'm not sure if they require any documentation but I've read this somewhere on previous posts.

Anyone ever tell you to not believe everything you read? Because thats not true. An adult can NOT get the childs DDP

I would just pay out of pocket.

You really don't save any money with the QSDP, you just have the convenience of pre-paying.

Since you can't eat much at a time, you could just share a meal with someone else in your party.

Thanks, but I wouldn't want to be on the kids package. Normally kids menus are filled with unhealthy options...chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, hot dogs, cheeseburgers and such. I rather order a fish dish or baked chicken and have tons of leftovers instead of be limited to bad choices. JMO

I don't see how 2 restaurants can justify paying for the DDP.
The buffet is the only one you have to pay full price...at others, if you can really only eat 3/4 cup of food, you can just share with others if none of you are on the DDP

And the QSDP doesn't seem like that great of a deal because you can also just share with others since you can't eat much...

I would just pay OOP

It appears that you might be going to Coronado Springs. We recently took a short trip there and used the quick service dining plan. This was a good selection for us, especially at this resort. We all received refillable mugs, 2 snacks and 2 meals per night. Since we had at least a dinner or lunch at the hotel each day, the quick service plan was cost effective. We ate at the Pepper Market at CSR. It is worth reading about this place and checking out the menu/prices. They have more choices, but it is more expensive. As well, using a dining plan allows you to NOT pay the extra 10% service charge that they usually add. For us, one dinner at the Pepper Market was as much as the quick service dining plan for a whole day. We also like this place as they had fresh options like salads, fruits, grilled steaks, etc. With the plan, you are able to get a dessert. We usually took a pastry back to the room. We would use our mugs for fountain drinks and get a bottled drink or milk to use later. I am not sure what plan would be best for your family, but I would suggest taking a look at the Pepper Market menu to help make that decision.
