Should I get a Disney Visa card?

Applying for several cards or other types of credit at one time can lower your credit score. I would have recommended that you start with your bank or credit union as a source of a credit card.

My children began with student credit cards at a bank where they had checking and savings accounts. They tend to pay for purchased items via electronic transfer as soon as they charge something. I did not teach them that. They heard other college students talk about getting into trouble with credit cards. They were able to convert to regular, non-student accounts upon graduation. They have since gotten at least one other card each.

Well, the issue with bank credit cards would be the same problem I think I'm in already. My bank is kind of a 'mom and pop' type local bank. It has a lot of locations all over VA and NC, they don't sell their loans/mortgages, and they don't report their mortgages or loans at all. So i worry that if I get a credit card there, I may get the same issue. The other bank I use is also a small chain of banks located only in VA. Because of my job field, and how often we deal with the major banks, I have no intent to become a customer of theirs.

I checked free credit report, and my score is 700...which from what i understand is pretty good...but it says my accounts aren't older than 10 years, and I dont have a credit card, so that is what is hurting my credit. I was focusing on applying for a Disney card, but I didnt even think about the fact that I filled out an application for a Lowe's card so my friend could get her "quota" that works there....and I was just going to shred it if I got approved. But I got denied for both.

Free credit report showed me a list of cards that they were certain would approve my credit, and Southwest was on the list. Got instantly approved.

I'm looking forward to getting some miles. I don't plan on using it for small purchases. I am a gunsmith and collector, so it's not out of the ordinary to drop a couple grand on a rifle here and there, orders for customers and whatnot, and I also work for a large restoration company family owned, which I can play with being the middle man on some accounts and getting some credit going.

I'm pretty excited that I might not have to drive to Florida, or maybe not pay for our flights to California for our Disneyland trip next year.

My sister had the same problem! She wasn't being approved for anything so the last couple of years I added her as an additional user on my CC accounts.

She applied for a school loan on her own and was conditionally approved! The ONLY reason she needed a cosigner was because she needed someone with a credit history. She added my mom (who does not have a great credit score) and was approved!

My BFs dad did the same thing for him. He has been listed as an additional user on his accounts for over 5 years so when we applied for our Costco AMEX we were approved for a RIDICULOUS amount. I mean the guy who ran the application seriously didn't know what to say. LOL!

If you have family who doesn't mind doing this with some of there cards this can also help you.

Just be smart :) Don't carry a high balance on your new CC for too long and everything should be fine! If you truly want the Disney one I would go for it after you have had the other CC for at least a year :) If you are a Disney FA-REAK like me the savings and perks are really great :) Good luck!

Once you have a credit history, it might not be a bad idea to try for the Disney VISA again if you plan to visit Disney often. There are some perks and discounts associated with the card like a 10% discount on $50 or more at Disney Parks and a private character meeting & free photo at EPCOT. Just use it for the benefits during your trip and pay it off right after until the next trip :)

We got $200 gc and have the regular card.

Ok, cool! like I mentioned, I had only seen the $100 offers.

My point was just that I, personally, wouldn't consider just a $100 offer to be worth that annual fee. When I got the $200 offers, it was when there was only one type of card and no annual fee.
