Should I feel guilty?

Well, I am finally home from a grueling couple of weeks of work, and holiday time with the in-laws.

Anyway, this is probably not a big deal, but somehow I feel slightly guilty-
In April, we are spending three nights at AKL concierge (2 with points, and 1 with cash), followed by several nights at VB and VWL.
My wife and I will be doing the Sunrise Safari on a day we are staying at AKL on points. My sister and BIL will be joining us at AKL, but they will not be staying concierge level. They want to do the Sunrise Safari with us, but they are not eligible as non-concierge guests.
Because while staying at AKL on points we are allowed two additional adult guests at no extra charge (there is a charge for a cash stay), we booked our room for four adults, even though my sister and BIL will not be staying in our room. We did this only so they could join us on the safari.

I would like to make sure that it does not cost DVC (the members indirectly) anything extra when booking four adults instead of two in AKL concierge.
Can the members here assure me of this, so I don't feel guilty?

My explanation of this is probably as clear as mud...

Thanx,
MG

Does the Sunrise Safari usually sellout? According to allearsnet, it is limited to 28 people, 2 days a week. If it doesn't sellout, then I wouldn't worry about it. As far as DVC is concerned, I think the number of points they charge is outrageous. AKL Conceirge is more points than an OKW Grand Villa most of the year (47 points weeknights in value season). I wouldn't feel guilty when paying those points.

Hmmm....
So your friends will be booked in two different AKL rooms on the same night.
Verrrry Interesting, as the guy from Laugh-In used to say.

Assuming that their real names are used on both reservations, you don't need to feel guilty, though perhaps a little self-conscious. And if someone gets busted, it will probably be them, right?

on points and cash you will have earned the reservations

Your guests are entitled to those "perks" even though they have opted to choose to get an additional room to sleep in. If your rooms holds 4, so be it. Enjoy the safari and save that guilt for later in the year -- you'll use it at some point!

I think you are OK. You are allowed 4 adults per room, and you've paid the points, which includes their possible presence.

Are you actually also paying for 4 people in the room for the night you are paying cash?

Sounds okay to me -- just don't go putting 6 people in the room. ;)

It's not costing DVC anything extra for you to do what is allowed by that resort. You are merely occupying the room as allowed.

As for the safari, you are still paying extra for that prvilege- which, again costs DVC nothing. Your guests will also be allowed to enjoy any of the gourmet treats afforded to Concierge guests (also without additional cost to DVC).

Enjoy!

As long as they are listed on your reservation and you are paying as agreed, I don't see the problem with this. As a matter of fact, they are paying extra for the additional room so as to have privacy, but could basically stay in your concierge unit so It's not like you are skirting the rules at all. List them on your reservation and if they choose to sleep in the car, they are still privvy to the concierge perks.

Save the guilt for when you save pool chairs:tongue: (just kidding)

I think it is more than fine and wouldn't even blink an eye at it! You are paying for four people to be sleeping in that room! Four people should go and enjoy the safari!

Please be sure to report back here to us on how your trip is!

Kelly

Thanx everyone! I agree with the consensus here, but I like to run these things by my fellow DVC/DISers.

Doc, thanx for clarifying the "no extra cost" issue.

rwcmath, since the safari will be on a points day, I do not need to book them in the room during the cash day.

Thanx again,
MG
