Should I extend our vacation?

Hello. :wave2: I have a question. My trip is planned from Saturday (Nov 25) through Thursday (Nov 30th). I am wondering what you all think if I should extend my trip through the next Sunday (going from 6 days to 9). Here are some factors weighing in my decision:

Pros
1) My older daughter is in first grade, and will already be missing 4 days in the week... I'm thinkng along the lines of *what's one more day?* :earboy2:
2) We will be buying annual passes, so ticket expense won't go up. :teacher:
3) I am so excited and I don't think 5 days at the parks will be enough. :hyper:

Cons
1) It will cost more for 3 more nights at a resort/hotel plus the expensive food at the parks. I'm looking at an extra $500.
2)Shades of Green, where we're staying, is full for the time I'm looking to extend. Would it be inconvenient to switch rooms in the middle of our stay?
3) Will we really need 8 days versus 5 days? We're mainly looking to go to Epcot and Magic Kingdom. I reckon if we get *bored* at either of those parks, we could venture out to Animal Kingdom and MGM.

Any input would be great. I'd like to make a sensible decision. Sensible includes balancing responsibilities with FUN. :)

I would put my name on the waiting list for SOG because many people wait till right before the 30 days out to cancel. I know they normally do a waiting list. good luck

I would definitely do it if you can financially afford it.
I have yet to plan a trip that I did not add on days at within the 45day mark.

1) If your first grader is like mine, she will be too tired to go to school on Friday anyway. But I would probably come home on Saturday(late) so she could rest on Sunday.

2) Cost would not be too much more, so I would make the most of it.

3) Definitely do the wait list for SOG

"Bored" what is bored at DW :rotfl:

I am never lacking for the ability to justify addon days :Pinkbounc

Cool. That's just what I was looking for: waiting list for SOG and justification to add on days. LOL. Thanks a bunch. I'm going to give it a go!

I guess I'm a little late since you've already made a great decision. Have fun. We always book our trip and then add a day here and there. On this trip we ended up adding 3 extra days, we just can't help ourselves and if we are there and having so much fun we can't drag ourselves away we may add one more while there. Your daughter is younger so there work load is not as great as middle or high school and should be a little easier to make up, I also found that in Elem. school teachers are more helpful in making up the missed work. I've never changed resorts but from what I've read on these boards Disney does the hard part for you. I also doubt you will get bored there is so much to see and do we took our first trip in 04 and were there for two wks and I feel like we barely scratched the surface.

Oh, you'll have such a great time! I'm sitting here wishing I could add on days too! But we bought the cheapest plane tickets and they are in no way flexible. :sad1: Oh, well, we are getting to go to Disney! :woohoo:

I would say no...we're going that same time! Sat - Fri....we went the same time last year, and we leave 1st thing Fri morning. In that time we saw and did everything we had wanted to, and more. There were no lines for anything the whole time. Being able to just walk on rides as opposed to standing in lines makes a HUGE difference. If you plan your time well, you'll definitely be able to do everything you want. And to deal w/the hassle of switching resorts for a night or two, to me isn't worth it. You could take the extra money you would spend and buy some great souveniers for your kid(s).

PS I have my schedule set, so PM me if you want me to send you what worked well for us...were going w/2 kids ages 5 and 2.5.

I woudl definetly stay the extra time! Heck I would stay a month if I could!!! Even if you get to see everything you really wanted you can take a less commando approach. It's so nice to take your time and relax as well as take it all in. 5 days would not be enough for me!!!

P.S. Big thanks to you and your dh.
God Bless and may he return quickly and safely.
