I have made our ADR for our Feb trip. Dh, I and 5 yo twin daughters. I booked 5 character meals: CRT breakfast, Auskerhaus breakfast, CP dinner, 1900 Park ave dinner, and Chef Mickey dinner. I also booked Coral Seas and Le Ceiler both dinners. I would really like to go to Boma should I forgo CM's for this? I Boma(dinner)kid friendly?

Thanks,
Jeanne

Boma is fabulous, but I wouldn't call it kid friendly. When I went I "LOVED" it but the kids with me (two 14 year old girls and a 10 year old boy) did not like it at all.

I can assure you that your 5 year olds are going to prefer Chef Mickey's. Having said that, I hate Chef Mickey's but my first priority is always food quality. I can't stand the food there. You definitely have enough character meals scheduled that you could easily get rid of one, but I can guarantee that your kids will prefer Chef Mickey's.

I agree, your kids will have a much better time at Chef Mickeys. My kids are adventious eaters and they didn't really like Boma, but they loved the excitement at Chef Mickeys.

We have never eaten at Boma, but I do have to say that everytime we go to WDW we ask the DKs where they would like to eat.......all 3 (4,8 & 11yrs) ALWAYS vote for Chef Mickeys. The food is o.k., buffet style, but the atsmosphere is so much fun for the kids. Great characters for them, Donald, Goofy, Chip & Dale, Minnie & Micky (they go to every table). Every 20-30mins they stop and dance and people twirle their napkins. :thumbsup2

We have been to both with our DS's 4 & 8. They love Boma! We thought Chef Mickey's was ok, the food was just ok and the characters made it by once. Boma is a must do on our list! The food is awsome and we have always had great service. I would chose Boma over Chef Mickey's!:thumbsup2

We went to Boma last year w/ 3 kids (3,5 and 13) and we did Chef Mickey too. This year we are going back and we did not re-book Boma, but we are going back to Chef Mickey. Boma was not a kid friendly place at all.....

Boma is somewhat noisy, and crowded.
my family went there two years ago, and we had a reservation at 8:30 at night, and it was still crowded. although i haven't been to chef mickeys since i was, 12, i believe it was. I remember my cousin having a blast at her birthday party there.

I think you are comparing apples to oranges. Boma's food is so much better in taste and quality!!! Chef Mickey's, in my opinion, is bland. That said you do have the characters. My kids are picky eaters and always say Boma's kid pods are the best. They eat more there than they do at Chef Mickey's. I think you have more character meals than you will probably want, but CM is the only one with Mickey and friends. Good luck deciding! I am thrilled because I talked my kids into 'Ohana breakfast instead of CM for our upcoming trip. (Can you tell that I am never that happy with CM's food?)

I would have to put in a vote for Boma over CM dinner. Maybe CM breakfast instead. Boma is a must do for us too. My son now 27 months has ate there 3 times and loved it every time. He had the adult selections and just loved everything he tried. There is alot to do at AKL also. Night vision goggles for the animals and story telling by the fire pit. Also the little kiddie parade in the lobby. All of this is free to anyone dining there. WE are going back again this year too. Guess we are hooked. LOL.

Maybe you could have dinner at Boma's and pay for breakfast at Chef Mickey's. It's a cheaper meal and breakfast is usually good no matter where you go.

Do what you want. However, to my kids, (and me) it's not a real Disney trip without dining with Mickey and Minnie. If you really want to try Boma, why not drop Park Faire. You will already be seeing Cinderella at CRT. Have fun!

My kids are 13 & 8 and CM is a must. :thumbsup2 It is our traditional first meal at Disney.

Last year we ate at BOMA and found the food to be interesting. My kids tried alot of new things but my DD had some tummy troubles after that. Not sure if the food was just too different and her tummy rebelled or what. I can see younger kids not eating much at CM because of the character distraction but for us CM is a definite must do! I am sure your 5 yo will love CM the food is really pretty good, IMHO.

Have fun!

We did CM breakfast in 2004 and Boma for breakfast in April.

The food for Boma's breakfast, other than the frunch juice, was just standard breakfast fare for the most part. We are going to do Boma again next March, but for dinner.

Chef Mickey was standard breakfast fare too, but much more kid friendly. Also for character interaction at Disney, we had our most magical moment at CM (which makes me biased I am sure)

When I was going back up for refills, Minnie came around and sat in my seat and played with my son. He offered her Minnie's Breakfast pizza and ended up giving her a kiss on the nose. It was a precious time and for that I will always love CM's.

For you - I think you'd be happier with Boma
For the kids - Your kids will probably be happier with CM's

I would vote for BOMA's and let you dd's see the animals afterwards...

They have a children's buffet with classic children's food...and the main buffet was really good...service was great also.

Chef Mickey's was a fun atmosphere...but our service was horrible...over an hour wait with ADR's...no drinks...no waiter...and the food was only ok...the character also seemed rushed to us compared to other meals. They do a napkin thing which was great...but CP does not simliar with the kids. We will only return if we get one of the first seatings of the evening. It is a great way to see the classic character without a line...

Since you are doing alot of princess meals...will your dd's be upset if one of the princess do not remember them from another meal?

Overall we thought the food and service was so much better at BOMA then Chef Mickey's...but Chef Mickey's was worth the money not to have to wait in long lines to see the classic characters.

Have a fun trip!

Unless you are staying at the AK, I would say go to Boma. My kids had a great time there. There is plenty of things for them to eat on the buffet. Plus then you can tour the resort and check out the animals. I think your kids would love it.
