Trying to come up with some new restaurants for upcoming trip. I have reservations booked for Marrakesh and Chefs de France, both for dinner, but I'm now a bit nervous based on the negative reviews, particularly for France. Doesn't look like DDP will make sense for us this trip, so rationale for Marrakesh is the 20% DVC discount we would get, plus kids love middle eastern/mediterranean food and the setting sounded interesting. France was about the setting and Remy, who the CM told me would be appearing that night, but I'm nervous about expensive marginal food seeing that we will be paying OOP. We've done San Angel Inn and Teppan Edo, German and Chinese don't really appeal, already doing Mama Melrose's Italian for a Fantasmic dinner package and couldn't get Le Cellier, so I don't think there's much left. Thoughts? Will we be very disappointed? Thanks in advance.

Personally I haven't eaten at either place, but I wouldn't let negative reviews stop me.

A couple restaurants that we LOVE get horrible reviews all the time....Whispering Canyon and San Angel Inn. We have never had bad service or terrible food.
We ate at Chef Mickey's this time against popular opinion and loved it too. Had I of listened to all who said "yuck" I would've missed a great meal and a good time.

I say if you are interested in the menu and want to try it...GO for it!! Don't let reviews stop you. There are good and bad for every restaurant at DW.

I agree with the PP. Now if there are more negative reviews than good ones, I'd probably reconsider.

Marrakesh was a great restaurant. Had lunch there. Food was delicious, service was overwhelmingly great... and loved the music and belly dancing.

Totally agree with what everyone else is saying here
You will never find a restaurant that doesn't get any bad reviews. There are always people who love a place and always people who hate it
Sometimes a restaurant can just be having an off day so if I was you I would check out the menus and if the food appeals to you just go for it
If nothing else it will give you good stuff to write about on the DIS :cool1:

Remember that people are more willing to share their bad experiences than good so you've got to take reviews with a grain of salt. Not everyone has the same taste or tolerances.

We had the best meal at Chefs de France on our last trip. We're making ressies again for the next trip. Marrakesh is our must do every trip. DD15 has loved this place since she was 4.

We have eaten at both restaurants 2-3 times each, and have enjoyed every meal there. We also do TS for dinner only, so that's our only experience, I was under the impression Remy only comes out for lunch, we have never seen him at dinner. Marrakesh is one of our top most favorite restaurants in the world, and food and service is also great at Chefs de France. We plan at eating at both again when we go back in October.

We were also very pleased with Chefs de France. Our filet was excellent - very tasty. And hubby loved the Escargot.

Chefs is our favorite restaurant, and we try to go at least twice per trip. Never had a bad meal there. Onion Soup is to die for!

DH doesn't like French food, so we have never eaten at Chef's but we love Marrakkesh. We eat here each trip. The restaurant is beautiful, our service has been warm and friendly and the food is very good.
As the others have said, every restaurant gets bad reviews. I suggest you look at the menus and if they appeal to you, go for it.
Have a Great Trip

Thanks very much everyone, I feel better about the choices and I think we'll keep them!

We loved Chef's in fact all of my kids requested that we go back there on the next trip.

Also as everyone pointed out, every restaurant gets bad reviews from someone. If you want to try one in particular, go ahead and try it, you may love it.

I would cancel dinner at Chefs and do lunch instead. We ate dinner there in Oct and the food had gone way downhill....and Remy wasnt there at all.

For lunch I had an incredible meal and Remy was there

Remy only makes appearances during lunch hours, pending he isn't experiencing any "technical difficulties".

We've done Chefs for lunch (20% DVC discount only at lunch, I believe) our last 3 trips and love it. Have ADRs for May, in fact. They have a decent wine list. We haven't been there since Remy started appearing so that is a priority this year. Marrakesh is really good, too. We've eaten there twice.

I would also not cancel because of some negative reviews. I've eaten at Marrakesh several times and always enjoyed it!
