Should I cancel Ohana character breakfast or Crystal Palace breakfast?

Need to choose between the two. I like how the breakfast is served family style at Ohana (less headache for me and DH), it will give us a chance to visit the Poly, and I want Kona coffee and Tonga toast! However, I heard the breakfast at Crystal Palace is one of the best, it will get us into the MK an hour before it opens, and my DD4 and DS2 are demaning to see Pooh and Tigger! Don't know which one to cancel:confused3 We certainly can't keep both as they are both at the bottom of our list anyway.

I would cancel Ohana. If your kids want to see Pooh and his friends, CP is the best place for that, plus there is nothing like walking down Main Street when you have it all to yourself. I would however, suggest that on a different day try to plan on going to the Poly to either Kona Cafe or Captain Cooks to grab some Tonga Toast and coffee. Kona would be a TS and is a bit more expensive, but Captain Cooks is a CS and much less if you are going OOP.

Ohana breakfast does not serve Tonga Toast. I love Ohana breakfast but I would love to eat at Crystal Palace before the park opens so I would chose crystal palace and I have never eaten there before

We think O'Hana is totally overrated. I'd definitely opt for CP, especially if you can get an ADR before the Park opens. The walk down an empty Main Street and photo-op in front of an uncrowded Castle is an extra bonus.

I forgot about that. I think it is just waffles, skillet potatoes, bacon, sausage, and eggs. I like the pp suggestion of trying Captain Cook's to get my Tonga Toast and Kona coffee. I think we will have a quick cs breakfast there one day then walk to the TTC afterwards to get the monorail to Epcot. This will be our first family trip so I think we will keep the Crystal Palace for my little ones. Once they are all older they may not be interested in the characters there.

Crystal Place is totally overrated. We dined there twice the last time we went, once for dinner and another time for lunch. The food isnt great and the one server we dealt with left a bad aftertaste that left us not ever wanting to go back.

The last day there we paid with a credit card since we ran out of food credits. I wanted to get it out of the way so my parents dont find a chance to pay the bill, right when we were seated I asked him to charge my card for the 4 buffets and add a 20% tip to it. That being all done, at the end of my meal he asked if I wanted anything else, my dad and I had a coffee, and without coming back to the table he charged my card for the coffee. I didnt know this till we got back and my credit card bill came.

It's only 5 dollars, but it was such a dishonest thing for him to do considering a buffet should include all drinks and food. I gave him a 20% tip without knowing how the service will be like.

The dishonest service and bad food didnt gain me as a fan

:thumbsup2We loved Ohana's breakfast meal and the characters were great but if the kids want Pooh and the gang head to CP. We did CP twice on our last trip mosily because we wanted to be in the park and ready to go at 9am. The food was fine and characters good too

I'm thinking that since this is our first trip and our kids are younger, that we should just do the Crystal Palace breakfast. We plan on going back to WDW in 2-3 years and I doubt any of my kids will agree to eating with Winnie the Pooh and friends at that point  My DD9 is already giving me a little heat about it now

I feel for you given your last experience, but I disagree with your first statement. DH and I have been to CP three times. Once for lunch and the other 2 for breakfast. It is just my opinion, but their breakfast is delicious!! :goodvibes The puffed french toast is amazing. There is such a great variety of foods. The character interaction is also wonderful....and the opportunity to walk up Main Street with a minimal amount of people....I was aw-struck each time but I am bias as MK is my absolute favorite.

It's a shame you had the experience you had with the server- was there a second charge from the Crystal Palace? I'm confused by this happening. I do hope you called Disney about this, I am sure they would rectify this mistake after you explained the situation.

Sorry to spoil your party here, but why have you got 2 booked anyway???? That means that another family may have not been able to get the booking they wanted. The sooner Disney does something to prevent this situation the better.

She never said they were for the same day and I never assumed they were. I thought she really only wanted, needed, had credits for, whatever 1 of the meals. She never said she couldn't keep both because they were the same day, only that they were both at the bottom of her list of places to visit.

I much prefer the O'Hana breakfast.
Love not having to hop up and down to get our food and Stitch and Pluto were a hoot when we went.

We had a great meal at Ohana and I was able to order the pressed pot, the waitress got it from Kona but like others have said you cannot get Tonga Toast from Ohana

The food was great and I liked not having to get up to go to a buffet

CP is an excellent breakfast and I like getting in the park early to take pics of us on an empty Main Street.

If I was going to a different park I would do Ohana for breakfast but if I was going to MK that day I would pick MK

I would give up O'hana if it were me. We did O'hana last trip and I will not do it for breakfast again. Dinner was great but breakfast stunk. We were done eating before any of the characters got to the table.

CP is one of the faves here and we have always enjoyed that.

Why do I have two of what? Two character meals? each of the meals our family has scheduled are for different days of the week so not sûre how our plans to eat would affect another family. There is no rule that you cant eat more than one character meal when you go to disney world  Not sûre what situation you think disney needs to prevent. The reason why we need to choose between these two meals is to prevent ourselves from giving disney too much of our money as we are paying oop for these meals:laughing:

To be honest I've always been a fan of Crystal Palace, we always try to eat there once every trip. But it seems the quality of food as changed dramatically this year. It's just not the same as it use to be. All their entree items seem to all have the same flavoring.

Cause we've always trusted that it's tasted great on other trips that's why the last trip, we dined there twice. Once for dinner then another time breakfast/lunch. We thought the first night we dined there was just an off night, so we gave it another go on our last day there for breakfast/lunch. Still the food is not comparable to what it use to be.

I didnt call disney, cause I dont really think it's worth calling distance for 5 bucks. However replying to this thread yesterday had me fired up so I called my cc company, just so that something like this doesnt happen to others. It's a different issue if the server came back and presented me with the bill for the coffee. I would have just paid it. What's the point in arguing over 5 bucks when you're paying 150 for the meal? But instead I was given the bill for the 4 charges for buffet, and learned that he used my preauthorized payment to charge other items without acknowledging me about it. I wouldnt blame him if I cheaped out on his tip. But I actually authorized him to take 20% tip ahead of time. Just cause a guest seems carefree doesnt mean it authorizes him to do whatever he pleases.

If the food is great, then yes I'd have the heart to return, but the food isnt great, and the service doesnt make up for it. There's been times the food isnt that great, but the service was amazing that we return to give it another chance....ex. Tutta Italia

Don't get me wrong, I like the buffet breakfasts. But to be honest, I really can't tell the difference in food quality from the two restaurants. Heck, most of the buffet breakfast taste the same to me.

If Disney were to conduct a blind taste test between the food at 'Ohana and the food at CP, IMHO most folks would not be able to tell the difference. It appears to me there are other things outside of food quality that allow us to differentiate the two restaurants. As folks have already mentioned, the one big advantage of CP is the fact you can access MK before it opens. There are few things cooler than walking up Main Street and seeing the castle with minimal folks in the park.

But at the end of the day, I just can't tell the difference in taste of how bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, or Mickey waffles are cooked at buffet restaurant over another. That being said, we have made ADRs at both places.
