I'm not believing what I'm seeing (and hearing, unfortunately).

You would think it's 4th of July around here. There are kids (about 15, ages 5-13) in the yard behind my me. They are shooting bottle rockets and fire crackers at each other. The clincher is - the parents are aware of this! :confused3

Personally, I don't like firecrackers and I'm tired of all the noise. But, that's not the main issue here. They are throwing these things at each other!!! :scared1:

I started to call the cops earlier but then the kids stopped...or so I thought. Now they are starting up again. Geez!

Are they illegal where you live? If they are and you think the kids are in an unsafe situation I would. If they are not illegal they are on their own property.......

Tell us what happened.

Is it illegal to shoot off fireworks where you live? If yes, then you should call the police. Last summer I was driving in my neighborhood behind a car full of teenagers. They had slowed down and were shooting roman candles at two girls walking down the street. From what I could tell it was the driver doing this too. It could have been someone in the backseat, drivers side though--couldn't exactly tell. If I had my cell phone with me I would have called the police.

If this was my neighborhood, I would call the fire dept first because we have not had rain for 42 straight days and I would be afraid of an accidental fire starting. Everything is so dry right now all it would take is a spark.

Yes, I just called the cops and it is illegal to shoot fireworks in the city limit. They are sending a car out to the neighborhood. I just can't believe these parent are letting their kids do this. What if something were to happen to one of these kids? Would the owners of the house/property be responsible?

Southern4sure, we've had a ton of rain here lately so being dry, luckily, is not an issue.

Now they've stopped again. However, I haven't seen any cop cars drive by. Hmmm.

I think you did the right thing.

If they weren't shooting them toward my house I wouldn't worry. They aren't your kids or your responsibility what they do. Now if they were aiming them towards my house I wouldn't wait for the cops. The kids around here use those to but if they aren't aiming them to my house's roof I let them have fun.Only 1 time did I have to say "hey shoot those toward your house"- they did no problem, no cops.

Hang in there... we may get some showers this weekend. :Pinkbounc

We're not quite as bad off as the Tampa area. We got about a half inch 2 weeks ago but, let me tell ya, everything is bone dry out there.

Speaking of that, check this out.

Yesterday a car's catalytic converter caused the grass to catch on fire at an air show the next town over from us (Lakeland). Finally tally, 24 cars were toasted!!!

The Rest of the Story

Like I said, it's really dry around here.

Sorry to have hijacked the thread. My 2 cents on the fireworks... I'd call even if it's legal and they're on their own property. The worst that will happen is the cops will tell you there's nothing they can do.
