Should I buy antennae toppers?

I wanted to buy my boss a cute Disney antennae topper for her birthday next month. She will be on vacation in WDW during her birthday; I thought it would be fun for her to use it on her rental car while she is there. I found a cute Tigger topper. It costs a lot more than the Mickey head ones. My question is : Is it worth it to buy such an item? I am wondering if people steal them off the cars at WDW? And how about in Jersey?

Do you have any feedback about this? Have you ever had your topper stolen?

I was also thinking of getting one or more for ourselves when we go on our trip, or just for use at home, but I really don't want to waste the money if they "walk away"!

I love my antennae toppers. Yes, they can get stolen but I still love them. I have only had one stolen in 3 years. I also have a topper for my cell phone. :cool1:

I love them too. I have several and change them for different holidays and seasons. So far I've only had one stolen over 4 years. I guess it's just a chance you take, but I've found them a convenience because they help me find my car in crowded parking lots :rotfl:

They are not any more likely to get stolen at WDW than anywhere else. :)

A lot of new cars don't have antennas. Sigh, ours doesn't. The last rental car we had didn't either. I had all these antenna toppers and no where to put them.. :cool1:

I love my antenna toppers; i admit I also change them for different seasons. Right now I have my right, white and blue Mickey one on. Over 3 years or so, I've never had one stolen.

But I bought a couple for my Mom on our last trip (she loves Minnie and Tigger), but didn't realize she didn't have an antenna and she couldn't use them. The good news was that I had 2 more toppers for MY car.

Last year when we went to Disney I bought our neighbor several antenna toppers (thank you for "watching the house"); this year I bought more for her; but I forgot she got a new car...no antenna.

Never had our stolen. LOVE my toppers. Right now I have Minnie. Getting ready to switch to "sunglasses" on Mem. Day!

 me too!

I put a small piece of velcro on the bottom of mine, and put the other piece of velcro on my ultrasound machine at work. I stuck the mickey antenna topper to the top of the machine! It is really cute there! It gives me a good feeling all day, every time I see it. Plus ALOT of patients and their families have noticed it, and it cheers them up. And the kids I have to scan are distracted by it, we talk about it and where I got it (disneyland), and it helps the kids stay still while I am scanning them! I'll bet you or your friend could find a place at work or home to "stick" it! :earsboy:

Funny thing, several times my husband and I have discussed getting one, (I want one, he doesn't) and then we remember we don't have one! I even see cute one's on I-95 that look like their headed down to WDW and I think oh, I want that one. I recently saw a Stitch that looked like he was holding on and the wind was blowing him, like a flag in the wind. Again it started the discussion, "Can't we just get one for Disney trips?" ... :rotfl:  :rotfl:

Last time down went around all the parks and bought one of each that I saw, almost 50 of them. Going to make a display for them and bought some extra for thr car.

When we go to Disney, my sister (19) and I (23) bring our own money. Apparently, there's some "rule" about turning 19 or 23 that prevents Disney Parents from buying things FOR you; they now expect you to spend YOUR money.
Anyway, because we don't have that much to spend, we try (**note: TRY**) not to blow it on things that won't do much good when we get home.
I myself own several antennae toppers-I like to change them for the different holidays, I switch them up depending on my mood-i.e. I have one that looks like a Pirate from Pirates of the Carribean, I have one on there right now that looks like the French Flag in anticipation of my trip to Paris in November-stuff like that, and I have never ever had a problem with people stealing them.
Disney Sister, however, doesn't like to take a chance, and takes hers off when she is leaving her car somewhere for a long time, like when she is up at college. Apparently, she doesn't trust hers with the scores of college kids that have the opportunity to swipe them.
My suggestion: if you are still unsure of whether or not it is something you want to risk, buy a classic one that can be easily found again, like the plain, black Micky topper, and NOT a topper that may be hard to track down on your next visit, like the topper shaped like a pirate. That way, you know the one you picked out can be replaced if indeed it does turn up missing. However, I doubt you will have a problem.

That's a good comparison, yes, they're about the size of a golf ball (with Mickey Ears :goodvibes ). Some are a little larger depending on the ornamentation, but not much bigger.

They also work great as a pencil topper! I also have found it's helpful in finding my car amongst all the other mini-vans!

I also change my toppers by season and holiday!

Thank you all for the feedback! I think I will take a chance and buy the Tigger topper for my boss and also some for myself! Where is the best place to buy them online?

I didn't want to sound paranoid about the theft issue, but I do live on a main road where just anybody can walk by and may be tempted...Also, once my parents were visiting us and before they left, Dad brought the folding lawn chairs they had brought with them back to his car parked in the street right in front of our house and leaned them against his car for about 5 minutes before they left and when he went back to his car, they were gone!! Just a fluke, I guess, but somebody had some nerve...

Now, I have the "problem" of deciding what types of toppers to get!

My DS bought me a silver, glittery mickey topper for Xmas. Wasn't sure how to display it, since my vehicles don't have antennas. Used silver cord and with a large needle went through the top of it and used a button to tie it off on the bottom. I hung it on my rear view mirror. It really catches the sun's reflection and I've gotton several comments on it (along with my doom buggy plate).

Any teachers out there, use the toppers as pointers at school. I don't have an antennae on my car but I thought the toppers were really cute last time we were there. I use lots of funny things as pointers in class (grade 1), like fancy flyswatters, pencil toppers on dowels and I'm going to pick up some toppers to use on dowels when we are at WDW this summer. The kids will love using them. :flower:
