Should I buy an AP?

Hoping the pros here can help. I am planning a trip with my daughter for October 6-10, staying at DLH. Getting a package with four-day hoppers costs about the same as getting a room-only reservation with an AP discount, plus one Deluxe AP and one child four-day hopper.

With the AP I could get a discount on tickets for the Halloween party on the 9th, plus 10% off of dining. But if DLR does 30% discounts in the fall, I won't need an AP to get the best rate, and I will have wasted $200 for the difference between the hopper and the (recently overpriced) AP. (The savings will help a little, but there is no way we will spend enough to make up the $200.) I should also mention that I am a frequent recipient of postcards with PIN deals on them, but those are unpredictable.

Should I get the AP on the assumption that this year is different and there will be no fall discounts? Or should I stick with the package for now and have faith that the price will go down as the trip approaches?

This scheme where an AP, child hopper and AP discount room are cheaper than a package is true then there is little question. Get the AP and book the room and enjoy food and shopping plus the MHP discounts.

If a room deal comes out, you have 3 months to change it and the AP discount will match it.

If you visit a second time with the AP that will be the icing on the cake.

i agree...i just have to say that I really feel that if they do offer the fall special (and thats a BIG if), I dont think its going to be as great as we have seen in the past...especially this year being the reopening of DCA and the new CL, i think they are not going to be hurting for occupancy in any of the hotels....hojo doesnt even have their retro rates going for Oct...now they may have offered them earlier on but theres nothing out now nor has there been for awhile...personally, I think they wont offer anything but you never know...so I agree with skiingfast...just get the AP

btw..did you see they have released oct. dates for AP rates at the 3 hotels????
