We are checking into SSR on 1/12 (which we are happy about, but our first choice was BWV). We were waitlisted until 30 days prior but it didn't come through. Should I bother to keep checking, or it is really a waste of time at this point?
Keep checking. Phone calls don't take that long and we have been successful even on check-in day! Obviously there is some luck involved, so here is some pixie dust headed your way!
OP, just to give you further encouragement, there are people who, because of health or other unhappy reasons, have to cancel at the last minute. We have been in that unfortunate position several times. We are hoping that we do NOT have to cancel our upcoming trip, but we never know. So you really, truly could get your wish. Good luck, but hope that it is NOT OUR BWV room that becomes available to you!
P.S. If we are unlucky I will try to remember to let you know before we cancel. There is no priority list after 7 days out, so canceled rooms are first-come-first-serve for the lucky caller.
Definantly keep checking. We got our wish last year a day before we left. I called everyday once in the morning and once in the afternoon and if finally paid off.
CHECK THE POINT CHARTS FIRST! Will the BWV reservation cost less than the SSR reservation? If so, know that the "extra" points will be returned to your account in holding status.
Holding points expire at the end of the use year. They can only be used to make a reservation that is no more than 60 days away. That can be difficult. Many holding points expire before they can be used.
If you are OK with losing the "extra" points (because you think a BWV stay is worth it), then it won't matter.
