Should I book extra days through Disney or let TA do it?

I'm wanting to add some days to a package I have booked through a TA. Realizing that this will be 2 separate ressies, I'm thinking of booking the extra days myself through Disney so that they will show up in the system when I check in on my package. Is there an advantage to this? Otherwise, Disney will not even SEE my additional days until about halfway into my stay. If they can see them in their system when I check in on my package, can I just link the 2 reservations together and not have to check out/check in again for those last few days?

Isn't it possible to just add the days to your current reservation? If you are staying at the same resort, with the same rate and the same number of people, I'm pretty sure they can just add them. Even if you are past the 45 day mark. Seeing adding would be an upgrade there should be no charge to do this. I would check if that can be done first.

Regardless of who you book your extra days through you will need to physically check out and back in for your 2nd reservation. You will most likely not have to change rooms. I have never had to change rooms when I had 2 reservations for one reason or another. I don't know if there is much of an advantage to booking other days with CRO instead of your TA. I would think the easiest for you might be to book with your TA have her note both reservations and request the same room when you move into the 2nd reservation. Then when you check in tell the front desk of your second reservation. See when they might see those in their system and on that day call the front desk and ask them to not that reservation.

Maybe someone else here has some similar experience that they can offer a suggestion. I hope you have a great trip!

No, these days cannot be added to my package because my package is discounted and the extra days are not...and cannot be.

This same thing happened to us last year. We had a AAA discount package and I wanted to add an extra day. By the time I added the extra day, the AAA rates were gone so I had to book rack "room only." When we checked in, Disney had no record that we were staying that extra day. Only 5 days before that did it show up in their system. Just thought if I booked through Disney, they would at least know we would be staying longer. Or does this even matter?

The resort will not see the second reservation until about 5 days prior no matter how you book it. I think I would have the travel agent book it, and note on the first reservation that it is continuing to res number XXX.
