Should I book 2016 reservation now or wait?

I was wondering if I should book my 2016 vacation now(going Oct 2016) just to hold that time then wait to cancel or update it when the "dining deals" come out?

Also, if I book through Dreams lets say this month, will they try to convert it to the dining deal(when its released) if I ask them?

Thanks for any responses.

They will definitely convert it. Used them before and they do a great job of staying on top of discounts and notifying you about them quickly. Why not book now - just pay a small deposit on the room. You can always cancel if it doesn't work out how you want it to! But at least youll be likely to get a room you want at the resort of your choice.

If you will go regardless of whether or not a discount comes out, I'd book now to make sure you get what you want. If your trip is dependent on a discount, I'd wait to see what (if any) discounts come out for your dates. Booking now will get you the resort/room type you want at rack rate, but doesn't guarantee anything for a discount. A discount can be applied to an existing reservation as long as what you have booked is available under the discount; however, having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied.

I thought if you booked now and then booked a BB offer, they had to cancel the first ressie.

I've never tried to apply a BB discount to an existing reservation, so I can't answer from experience what the correct procedure is. With that said, I have read reports of others having success in applying a BB to an existing reservation, while others have had to book a new reservation and cancel the first one. I guess it depends on the CM.

Ok thanks!

Book now and keep checking for deals. You can always update your reservation with the discount.

GREAT advice - exactly what we did for 5 years, twice per year, before we bought into DVC. The term is "Book and Lurk".

"Book and Lurk" works well.... you just have to keep checking for the inevitable 30% discount :). It will show up, and the minute it does? CALL.
In over 12 trips, exactly ONCE did I have to make a new reservation.... I did, and in the SAME PHONE CALL, cancelled the OLD reservation. Disney does not like this - just more paperwork and expense for them :). So, they WILL try to just give you the discount.

If 30% disc. Comes out for 2016 room only, will it be applied to a price I booked at previously or only on the current price if it is higher?

If you want a specific room type, I would book now. For our extended family trip, we wanted CR TPV, and so we booked early so we wouldn't be split up. I concede that there is still a possibility we would get split up, however, at least we're all in the same room type and we'll hope for the best.
