Should I be worried?

We will be at DW on Wednesday (May 9th), and were originally staying at OKW, but on Friday (five days before we leave) I called DVC reservationists to see if I could change to VWL, because that is our home resort and we wanted to stay there. I fully expected to be turned down, it being so close to our check-in date, but they had a studio available.

BWV are completely booked up! Why not VWL? Are they not as nice? Is it location? Any other ideas?

This could be wrong, but maybe it is because the VWL are not sold out yet and it is a room that was in the owner inventory that they were hoping to rent for cash. Seeing that it wasn't going to happen, they may have freed up some of those rooms. Just an idea based on having read the entire public offering statement on my plane ride home two weeks ago.:D

A couple other things that occurred to me, is that everyone that has bought, obviously bought recently, and have had their Disney visit for the short term... Also, I'd say it's probably fair to say at least a good portion of owners that used Magical Beginnings that took away some of their initial points... That went back into the General Disney category also for the short term... That's just a couple of ideas... Course there are loyal BW & OKW owners that don't stay at other resorts as well.... I guess there could be a lot of reasons!! Whatever the reason, congrats for getting your room!!!

Another possible reason the BWV are booked up could be that they are doing MUCH re-facing there. We just returned from a stay there. I can see no way that they can allow guests to stay in the area that they are re-facing because they have the whole outside of that area all tied-off which would give NO access to the balconies.

I don't think the REAL problems with booking at BWV occured until after the thing was completely sold out (though I'm sure people will tell me if I am wrong, but it just seems like things got much worse after it was completely sold out).

We also found that it is easier to get into VWL right now. BWV never seems to have availability unless you snap it up right away but VWL always seems to. If this were my home resort (which it will be soon for a small add on of 50 points!) I would be glad because it means that I can stay there on relatively short notice. I suspect that once it sells out, though, being able to stay there on short notice may be difficult.

I'm not sure what you're worried about. I fyou're worried that people are avoiding it because it's not so great, don't be. We are die hard BWV lovers but decided to add on 50 points after a week's stay there. We just loved it. The theming was so relaxing and the place is beautiful. They have the best hottub and I convinced my husband that we wanted to stay there at least every so often (third year or so) in the future (because he also suspects that once it is sold out it will be harder to get into).

Another reason may be that right now with the point schedule being the highest on property, people will prefer to save points and stay at one of the other resorts... however once the higher point schedule becomes more the norm (with BCV, which may have an even higher point schedule, who knows!) that more people will try it out.

Anyway, enjoy your trip home. I'm sure you will LOVE it there.

I had to change my travel plans recently and was suprised that I was able to book a specific week at Vero Beach only 5 weeks away. I was told it was the only room available. I suppose cancellations also play a part in last minute reservations.

VWL is Beautiful We took the tour. There is nothing to be worried about in my opinion
