Should I be concerned about room location at YC and CR?

I've been thinking about this trip for over 2 years and made our resort reservations in August of last year. I've been planning every detail, but can't seem to get too worked up over room location. I know there are threads out there with maps with room numbers, etc.

Here's my thinking: We are doing a split stay. CR is second; I've requested an MK view but I think the lake would be nice, too.

YC is first. When AP rates came out I pondered upgrading to a water view but $$$ won out. We will arrive after 8 pm. I've requested no smoking, balcony, garden view.

Should I be studying the maps and charts to try to get the "best room" or is it okay to just be relaxed about this one thing?

Missiepie, I don't know when you are arriving, but if it is during a calmer time you may get an upgrade to water view at YC just by asking for a really great view. When we were there in February all I said was that we would prefer an upper floor (they had us in a ground floor) with a good view so we could appreciate the resort since we were returning to WDW in APril. We were given a water view room with a view of Boardwalk and the boat launch area at the YC. If you are fiendly and polite sometimes you will be treated well by the check in CM's.

I plan to be freindly and polite (actually, DH will - he's the "nicer" of the two of us), but we will arrive after 8 pm on the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. YC has been booked solid for that night for ages. I think we'll get what we'll get, and I want to be prepared for that.

Where are you staying in the CR? The tower or wings? I've stayed in both.

For the tower, I don't think you can get a bad room/view. We requested and received a lake view room. It was incredible. You can see the big "ball" from Epcot, WL, FW, and MGM way in the distance. It is such a pretty view.

When we wanted to see Wishes or MK, we just went to the concierge lounge. That is a pretty view, too. It was so nice watching the fireworks from the balcony.

You can see the water parade from either side. It is much better on the lake side because you are closer. From the MK side, you can see it at the Poly and GF, it is a bit far & backwards, but still is OK. I'd bring a pair of binoculors if you request this view.

For the wings, I'd request a North wing room with a view of the fireworks.

We had one awful room at the YC. It was on the ground floor and right next to a storage area for housekeeping and maintainance. Very noisy! Maybe just request a quiet area.
