I booked a party of 7 for character dining however there are 5 paying adults and two infants. I would rather not have the 18% gratuity automatically added so should i call to change the reservation? Or will they adjust it there seeing that there is only 5 adults?

You can't have it adjusted. The infants count as people. You're a party of seven no matter how many you book for.

Nala is correct. No matter what when you are there they will charge you the auto gratuity.

And I would add if you rebook it with just the 5 and there is actually 7 of you (as the infants count), 2 of you may be turned away at the restaurant.

Even though the babies don't take up chairs, they count as people (because they are...;) ) under the capacity policy. So if the restaurant is booked they won't add people to the adr as it would break fire codes. (Disney is big on this).

This might be what Mistress Merryweather is alluding to - I'm not sure - but if they are under 3 and eating from your plates or not at all - you won't be paying any gratuity on their portion anyway. You're only going to pay the gratuity on the meals that you eat.

(and with that comment, this will probably get moved to the tipping thread - LOL!)

Going to close this now and refer to the tipping information sticky thread.
