Should Availability Posts be Sticky?

Seems like availability questions come up every couple of days. Am I the only one who thinks those great posts by drusba and perhaps others should be sticky?

The two posts the OP is referring to is not actual confirmations of specific dates but whether there is even a chance for that time of year. That is a big difference IMO. I know I book mark those threads, just to let people know where to find them. A sticky would be great. But I don't know the say rules either. You could end up with too many stickies.

FWIW, the DVC mods prefer to keep the pinned (formerly known as sticky) threads to a minimum. Some of the non-DVC DIS Boards have so many pinned threads that you have to scroll almost to the bottom of the first page to get to the recent activity. We don't want that for our DVC boards (especially because many access the DIS via phone or tablet). We would rather not be making value judgments about which threads are "worthy" of a pin.

Many of the regular DIS DVC posters have the availability posts by drusba and skier_pete bookmarked. The "regulars" have been very generous in posting links (with a credit) to those posts as well as also commenting on the specific questions by the OP asking about availability. I know we are all very grateful for the time and effort those two posters in particular have given our community to provide the information in those "bookmarked" posts.

That's cool - for those of you who have these bookmarked, would you mind listing those links here, so that we can then bookmark this thread?

As I re-reviewed this thread, and am toying with booking my party of 9 into either a AKV GV, or two 2BR savanna view villas, I just realized that I haven't seen a lot of detail on 2BR availability. Did I miss it somewhere along the line?

Don't think so. skier_pete's work included mostly studios & 1 bedrooms because that is what he was interested in fro himself. He graciously shared his results with us. AFAIK, no one has done anything similar for the 2 bedrooms. It was undoubtedly a LOT of work to collect all that data and then format it for sharing here. I'm sure skier_pete would share his methods if anyone is up for doing the work for the 2 bedrooms, GVs, cabins or bungalows, LOL.

drusba's posts are very good for general planning purposes & setting realistic expectations. And we do have the RAT.

In general 2BR's go after studios do and before 1BR's so you can kind of go off of that. BWV is an exception where there are only 2BR lock-offs so once studios are gone then 2BR's are gone too.

That's good information, I'll extrapolate from the other charts. I've also reviewed Daves When to Book section, but it seems to lean towards less availability than the charts here, but I assume that's to reduce "disappointment".

I'd think that's a good assumption about David's although my semi-casual observations are that things are tightening up since the availability charts were done here.

Interesting, observations of what?

The availability at most resorts - the RAT has really helped with seeing how things go. We travel at various times of the year, in general like all the resorts, and don't always tend to book at 11 months although sometimes will so I'm checking availability at various times - 11 months, 9 months, 7 months and even closer in. Rooms at certain times of the year that I was used to seeing open at 7 months even just a couple years ago now are much less certain or aren't available but since I'm not keeping a chart I say it's just my casual observation as I'm only relying on memory (and sometimes bookings I've done in the past to compare) but it's not a formal tracking.
