Shorts in mid-March?

So, I've been to Disneyland in February, August, October and December and know the general weather for those times. But, I feel like mid-March falls into that weird transition of warm/cool weather. Is it shorts weather with a sweater at night? Probably a silly question, but I'm the type of person who likes to scout out cute but comfortable outfits to wear at the parks, in advance. I know to expect something in the 70's... but 70 degree weather feels different depending on location.

It really depends. I've been in February with 80 Degree Weather and in October with 60 degree weather. I would pack some because March will most likely have some warm days.

It's really weird weather in march. It could be raining or 80 degrees. I would bring an assortment of clothes and just layer so you can be comfortable no Matter the weather.
Rule of thumb for disneyland... Always add 10 degrees. If it says 75 it will feel like 85. I think it's all the walking and people but its always hotter than the weather says.

I was just there Wed/Thur/Fri. The only day I would have wanted to wear shorts would have been Fri...it got up to 84 degrees. But, in the evening it was still a bit chilly...I had on jeans, a long sleeve shirt and a fleece pull over for Fantasmic.

The other days...you would be fine with shorts in the afternoon. But, the mornings and evenings were still pretty chilly, especially if you were standing in the shade.

It really depends on where you are from. We usually go in March, with highs in the mid 60s while we are there. For us, that is shorts weather, with jackets during the cooler morning and evening hours. We are from Utah; the highs last month were in the single digits and the teens and the highs this month have been in the 20s and 30s. 60s feel great after that! I do agree with PP, Disneyland does feel at least 10 degrees warmer.

Agree with previous poster. Depends on where you are from. We just got back and we were in our shorts/capris. Only wore a jacket when the sun started to go down. Heck, even on the day there was rain/hail I wore no jacket. I was determined to enjoy the warmer weather! Short sleeves and sandles were the way I was traveling! Although I did concede to wearing jeans that day. Didn't want to look too crazy!!:dance3:

March weather can be a bit tricky around here. Check out the 10 day forecast for the Disneyland Resort on weather.com before you close your suitcase. Personally I usually don't break out the shorts until May/June but I think my husband would wear them all year round. Definitely bring a light jacket. We stil can get significant rain in March....although each year it is hard to predict. You could bring a pair of shorts or two, just in case, but I will be wearing jeans during my March visits to the park.

Depends on where you are from. We do short at 70 or even high 60's. We are from the northwest and used to clouds and rain.

We had planned all jeans and long sleeved shirts one year in December and it ended up being 80 and we were DYING and bought new clothes.

Keep an eye on the weather.

Our usual visits have been Jan-March and end of Feb or March are usually shorts and capris.

I agree with the previous posters that Disneyland weather is sometimes hard to predict. On our last trip there was a 10% chance of rain, and of COURSE we decide to forget our emergency ponchos that we've brought with us every trip into the park. It rained. On a trip two years ago, there was an 80% chance of heavy rain, so we wore wellies. Clouds cleared by noon, and it was bright sunshine the rest of the day.

That said, if you plan on wearing shorts, bring along a pair of tights in case it gets too chilly in the evenings. Tights easily fit anywhere, and will keep you from totally freezing your butt off :)

I've been there when it was 80 in February, and 55 in May. I always check accuweather before packing and just make sure I have something warm for the evenings.

Was there in January, had 8 shorts days and 2 pants days. I wear shorts when the temp is in the mid 60s though...so might not be your best benchmark

And that is why OP's question is hard for others to answer for you- you won't find me in shorts until it is at least 85*! :thumbsup2:rotfl2::thumbsup2 For March I will be in cotton capris, tees, hoodies if needed and will bring a warmer jacket for evenings just in case, I will also have my jeans just in case it dips down to the 50*'s...

As everyone have already mentioned March is hard to predict. Actually, November through March are all hard to predict day to day. Saturday, I was at the beach in board shorts. Today, it's jeans and a light jacket.

January and Februay this year were pretty dry from our norm, but the GFS model is starting to show retrogression in the Hemis. This could be a good sign. The MJO has moved into phase 2 to support this. We could be in for a wet March!! Sorry for those of you visting the parks, but we NEED the rain. Take this with a grain of salt, March is still in the fantasy period.

I'm struggling to know what to pack for our March trip as well. What makes it really tough is that our kids think we are going to Seattle for the week so we'll have to pack all their "warm weather" clothes in a separate bag so we can switch it off at the airport, assuming it will be warmer than Seattle in LA :).

It's really too early now to have any relatively accurate idea of what the weather is supposed to be like. As the time gets closer, the weather forecasts, as accurate as they normally are :lmao:, SHOULD help somewhat.

We went in mid February last time and it was cold and rainy. We wore pants and light sweaters most days. It kept the crowds out of the park which was nice. We had family go the week right after us and they wore shorts and tanks every day. It was a huge difference. So unpredictable!

Personally, I'm hoping for cooler weather. I don't like heat. I'm a Canadian through and through.

If you use weather.com make sure and add 5 degrees to the forecast for a more accurate forecast...best ones IMO are weather.gov and accuwearher.com

I'm from Las Vegas, so March really is when we are just getting into shorts season. I think I'll bring a pair of them just in case the weather is warm enough! I'm hoping for sunshine because the last time we visited it was torrential downpour.

I guess it depends on how cold-natured you are but I would say definitely YES to shorts. We just got back from an early-Feb trip (we were there all last week and it started in the low 60s early in the week and ended in almost the 80s) and I wore shorts every day. I was totally fine so long as I had a warm fleece hoodie and I really appreciated having shorts on once the sun came out and warmed things up. We missed the rain so it was sunny the whole time. If it had rained, I would've appreciated pants I think...sometimg like track pants that are more water-resistant (not jeans).

And - I am not from Canada or anyplace cold. Born and raised in Texas.
