For those of you who live at least 400 miles away what's the shortest length trip you'll take to Disney using DVC. I'm trying to figure out if its reasonable to go for a two day weekend.

i have done the same day trip 13 times to play golf and come home the same day at WDW with my buds

We went to 2 nights this past October. We wanted to go to MNSSHP, I had a big project going on at work, and DS had a football game on Saturday so we left home Tuesday night drove to Macon spent the night and arrive at WDW on Wednesday only to leave again Friday morning to make it home in time for Saturday morning game.

I would still do it again - very worth it!

When we lived in Michigan, I would have considered it. A 2 1/2 hour flight, and no time zone issues. Here in Arizona (where DW and I are about to head out to the pool & hot tub), it's a 3 1/2 - 4 hour flight, plus two or three hours time zone change, I wouldn't go for less than four or five.

but DR T you could easily be in anaheim pretty quick on southwest no????

I once had a 2 day business trip to Orlando (Mon-Tues), I flew down Sunday, spent the afternoon & evening at MGM and Epcot and stayed at CBR. Drove Downtown in the morning. It was food & wine festival time, I really enjoyed it! It was strange to be alone though. The shortest vacation I've ever done was 3 nights, the longest 7 nights.

Yes - we're about an hour away from LA, Vegas, etc. Just wish I had a good place to use DVC points....

Live in San Diego ... enjoyed two nights at Vero Beach this past August on points. We were already vacationing in Pompano Beach (via an RCI Bonus Week) and decided to try DVC for two nights in the middle of our week. It was a spontaneous idea ... and we were glad we did it.

DH and I are taking a trip in May. We're arriving at noon on Saturday and will leave Monday afternoon. We're not bringing the kids (2 toddler boys) so we're planning on packing a lot in! We're going to Universal (DH has never been) for Saturday to ride all the rollercoasters/thrill rides and then to Emeril's Tchoup Chop for dinner. Sunday we're taking the Segway Tour at Epcot. We're staying at SSR so I imagine we'll be wandering around Downtown Disney a lot. I don't think I could be away from my boys for another day. We're so excited!

I wouldn't do a short trip with our boys because they're so young (1 and 3)--we really need to take our time at the parks and give them time to adjust.

Three nights is the shortest we have done - driving. But I would do two nights if I could get really good airfare.

3 nights for me too - I use to do this often.

of course sometimes 2 were spend in DVC, the other one was spend in a WDW resort - sometimes even off site especially if I was arriving on a Saturday.

I have driven the 600+ miles for a Cape May NJ 2 night trip. I've done it more than once, but sometimes I do fly. I like the Philadelphia Flower show, a lot!

Before DVC, we have flown down for Epcot's Flower show, and only stayed Friday and Saturday nights. Now that we have DVC, we stay off site and stay 2 nights DVC to average the point cost.

Bobbi :D

On my first solo trip, I was in WDW for 32 hours, 2 am Friday night (or Saturday morning) until about 10:00 am Sunday. Left home 5:15 Friday afternoon (so I guess it took about 7 hours there), but it took 9 hours to fly home (got bumped in Dallas). Worth it? Definitely! However, it was a Frequent Flier ticket-had we paid, I might think differently about whether it was worth it for that short a period of time.

We're planning on driving down in May. Staying Monday night through Thursday afternoon and driving back Thursday night. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I can't wait!!!

We've done about four 3 night trips over the years. That's the shortest we'd travel 1200 miles for.

We did a 3 night trip last August, took the 4:00 flight from Grand Rapids, and arrived Friday at 6:30, then flew home on the 7:10, arrival at 9;30 PM on Monday. We only have 1 direct flight daily, so I feel that it's my duty to support it whenever I can :teeth: The whole trip was a surprise for DH, I paid for everythingbecause he was so wonderful--but right now? :badpc:

We went once for 3 days, arrived at the Beach Club at 9AM on a Friday, left at 6AM on Monday. It was a short 3-night trip, but much a needed escape. :)

DH and I had a 4 night/3 day trip planned in Sept. We flew down and arrived at VWL about 9:00 pm to find out that Hurricane Jeanne was heading that way. Airport at the time was projected to be closed on Monday (when we were to fly home). We were told to either try to leave Sat or wait and see what happens. Called airline and they suggested to change our tickets to Sat, so we did. We had a full day on Friday to shop (I had to buy Mickey cabinet knobs for my new kitchen cabinets!) and go out to eat at O'Hana's (one of our favorites). Then we got up early and Sat and flew home. We laugh now and say it was a long way to fly to buy cabinets knobs! We had a wonderful time and would do a trip like that again (hopefully without the hurricane!)

My parents had our kids, and DH thought maybe we shouldn't tell them we came home early! As it was our kids opted to stay with Grandma and Grandpa and said we could not pick them up until Monday when we were supposed to have returned!

Live in Chicago (about a 90 minute flight away) and have gone down for as little as one day (admittedly on a business trip).

Short trips can be really fun. You don't have the prerssure to do a lot, because you know that you can't. Also, you don't get that Disney exhaustion that can creep up after a longer trip.

You're in the "real world" one day, then smack dab on Main Street and thenn back out.

Like a beautiful little dream.
