shorter hours in oct how do you do it?

We have always gone in the summer months now going the second week in oct for 4 days . by the time you eat and travel how much time is really left we get up early to catch the busses etc. then waiting in your spot for shows at night if they have them i hear there are selected night only . just wonder how anyone esle has managed?

The crowds are so much less of an issue, that you generally can get through many more attractions over a few hours than during the Summer.

I've gone twice in October and never had a problem doing everything that I wanted. Crowds are smaller, especially on weekdays. The weekends can be busier with local guests. Just use fastpass and have a plan. You also won't be as tired because it's not extremely hot and you weren't out so late every night. If you're staying on site, take advantage of the Extra Hours.

Added after I reread your post:
I don't think that I've missed out on any shows because it was October. There was only one Fantasmic show per night at around 7:30pm and I saw it using the Fantasmic dinner package but there were other seats available. I also saw Illuminations and MK fireworks. This year I'm going to add MNSSHP to the list.

I agree with Bicker, the crowds are usually much smaller and you are able to do and see more in a shorter period of time. When our children were younger we would travel during this time, but now we go on school breaks.

After the parks would close we would either go back to our hotel and swim or find a nice place to have a late dinner. Remember even if you are not staying at a WDW Resort, you still are able to visit each one and eat in their resteraunts, well worth the money!

You can do more in 5 hours on a slow day when it closes early than you can see in an entire day at other times of the years.

Short (if any) lines, easier dining, less congestion...it's quality versus quantity for me.

The lines are so much shorter than during the summer. We go to the MK in the morning and ride just about every ride in the park by 2.

I agree with the previous posters..........we've been in late September/early October the last couple of years and have had absolutely no problem doing everything we wanted in the shortened hours, even with taking breaks in the afternoon. We now go at this time rather than summer. While still hot, its not as hot. While still busy, its not nearly as crowded.

Having gone twice in Nov and going again this Nov, it's the shorter lines due to lower attendance. We only stood in line for a couple of the most popular rides. No lines especially before 11 am for most other rides. I'd say other than BTMRR, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain, we never stood in line longer than 15 minutes. In Epcot and MGM, the lines were all pretty short. We went both times for 5 days and never once felt rushed to do anything. The first time AK wasn't opened yet, but the second time it was and it really didn't change our enjoyment. We do make a habit of being at the parks when they open and staying til they were closed which is earlier that time of year. The nice thing is the first time we went our boys were 3 1/2 and almost 6 and we never had to leave the parks for anything. Other than Epcot, we were back to our rooms in time for them to be in bed by 9. They're grown up now, so DH and I are going this Nov because we know it's the end of Hurricane season and the crowds will be much lower. It's also the lowest rain month of the year so you're less likely to miss anything due to weather.
