ok - I swear I posted this question yesterday but I can't find it. So...

I've seen threads referencing a road (think it begins with an "S") that is a shortcut from Windosr Hills to the World but I can't find them now. We just booked a condo in WH and would like to know the quickest way to get to Disney.

Thanks!
Karen

Hi - that's Sherbeth Road. From WH, you would take a left onto Old Lake Wilson Road, then a left on Rte. 192 (W. Irlo Bronson). Stay in the right lane when you get onto Rte. 192 because it is a short distance before you'll have to take a right onto Sherbeth - it is at a stoplight and there are signs across each intersection.

We found this shortcut to be quicker to Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach and the Studios, but not to MK, DTD or Epcot. For those places we used the World Entry Drive - which is a right onto Rte. 192 off of Old Lake Wilson Road.

We just got back a few days ago from a stay at WH. Instead of going all the way to 192 to make the left, here is a better plan. I copied this from someone else's post, but this is what we did all week. By using these directions, you avoid driving on 192...and it cuts out one stoplight.

Come out of WH and turn left on Old Lake Wilson Road and head toward 192. Look for a left turn lane that says WESTGATE BLVD...It is hard to see the 1st time as the sign for Westgate faces North...turn onto Wesgate Blvd and go a short ways. You will come to a small round drive with a fountain at the entrance to Westgate. Turn on to the circle and immediately turn right before the guard gate. You are now on ENTRY POINT ROAD (this becomes Sherberth Road once you cross over 192). Simply go straight until you come to the stop light on 192. Stay in the middle lane and go straight across and you are now on Sherberth Road...once you hit the long straight stretch of Sherberth look to the right and you will see Everest...look straight down the road and the top of the tree that is a different color green is The Tree of Life...Wow, huh!

Take a couple of curves and come to a stop light that says Osceola Parkway...turn RIGHT and follow the signs...Animal Kingdom will come up quickly on your left and the all the other parks will be after a left turn at the next stop light....just follow the signs.

To exit any of the Disney parks, follow the signs to Animal Kingdom. You will have to take couple of quick right turns off the main roads in Disney so stay alert for the turns...As you approach Animal Kingdom notice the big sign that direct you to stay in the left land to Animal Kingdom LODGE. (Be careful...if you don't stay to the left you will end up going into the AK parking lot...we did this once!) Turn left when you get to the light at Sherberth...straight across 192 at the light...to the round circle drive with the fountain...turn left onto WESTGATE BLVD and then right on Old Lake Wilson and you are home...

I know it sounds a little complex but after the 1st time you will be a Disney driving expert!!!

Wow!!! Thank you both for the great, detailed directions. I'm going to print them both out and see which we prefer.

Getting really excited for our trip. Only 27 more days!!!!!!!

Hi, this is a question that has evolved as Disney has opened more entrances and 192 got widened to 3 lanes. We stay 3 months in the area and drove Old Lake Wilson daily. I may be wrong, but I think the directions that mathgal gave above sound a lot like directions I gave a year or so ago...and are still very usable.

I think now however since I have driven that road 100's of times that the short cut TO GET INTO DISNEY above through Westgate is best only if the parks are very crowded and 192 is really backed up. It also is best if you are going to AKingdom or AK Lodge.

I really think it is faster now to just stay on Old Lake Wilson, get in the right lane, turn right on 192 and go in the Disney entrance just down the road. If you want a little short cut turn right onto the access road just short of the 192 and it will take you quickly to one of two left turns that lets you skip the stop light...

I think getting back to WH is quicker however, using Sherberth because the new Disney exits can put out on I-4 and then to 192 west if you don't know the parks really well. Just remember when using the Sherberth exit that you watch closely for the quick right turns to Akingdom. They have small signs and can be missed easily as the right turn lane is very short.

All in all it probably no more than 2-3 minutes difference either way and that is determined a lot by stop lights and if you hit them red or green...so try it both ways and see what you think and either way you are going to Disney World and have a great time!!!
