Here are some thoughts of our recent visit to RPR (6/6-6/11), loved this place and will go back in a second. Very relaxing with a great location and everybody very helpful and friendly. I did miss the food court like @ Disney. Had a great view from our room facing parts of IOA, also had a very nice surprise waiting for us in our room, milk/cookies but also a bottle of wine, postcards, a Spider-Man glass, stuffed animal, autographed book, etc. Thought the pool was neat and nicely landscaped and relaxing with the hot tub.
As far as the parks I will say that I like some things better @ Disney and vice versa. FOTL has to be experienced, truly remarkable. Did not like the early closing times @ the parks, to me closing at 7 p.m. during the summer is not good. I realize that with FOTL you don't need as much time but we like to close the parks down at night but were unable to. Loved the theming at both parks and the general layout. Did have an issue with one of our tickets and guest services came thru big time. Thought some of the rides were right up there with Disney or better, like Spiderman and the Mummy. The water rides were very well done and yes you do get "soaked".
Did Discovery Cove and this was truly an unforgettable experience, if there's anyway you can swing it you need to try it out at least once. The pictures and video are truly special memories which will last a lifetime. Wife and I loved it as much as the kids, took awhile to get the snorkeling part down but finally able to do it. Did the birthday package and this was a big highlight of our trip also, cake was good to. SeaWorld was neat even though we have one in Texas, kids loved Kracken and Voyage to Atlantis and of course the Shamu show.
Also saw the Titanic exhibit which was very informative and well done, if you are really into the Titanic you should check this place out.
Finally liked to say that this trip was especially memorable as this was our first visit to RPR, Universal and Discovery Cove. Kids had a blast as well as the wife and I. Next trip is years away but would not hesitate to stay at RPR and do the Universal parks as we feel the FOTL is one of the greatest things we have ever experienced at any theme park.
Thanks again to all who answered my questions as this was very helpful in planning our trip. Will keep reading to keep up with things until time to start planning our next trip to Orlando, might consider splitting our trip between Disney and Universal. Also would like to do the parks another time of the year besides summer with the heat, crowds and rain, maybe in the fall or spring.
Good luck to all on your trips to Orlando.
