I went down for a business/pleasure trip this past weekend. 1/27 and 1/28 I was by myself and my DH joined me on Sunday, 1/29. I had a thing at the convention center and I definitely wanted to ride EE for the preview. Didn't eat at a lot of places, but here are my dining reviews.
I stayed at POR the first two nights and OKW the last two. First time for me at both resorts. I'll rate on a scale of 1-5 - 5 being the best.
POR Food Court - I didn't arrive until 7 p.m. so I decided to grab something at the food court. I got a veggie and fruit plate. Very fresh. Very good. I won't rate a food court meal. It is what it is. But it was very good.
Boatwrights - I had breakfast at Boatwrights. Very good! They sat me right by the fireplace which was a nice touch. I had eggs and crescent city toast and I substituted grits for the meat. I was blown away by the cc toast. Excellent! A lot like tonga toast but without the bananas. I would give this experience a 4. They gave me the recipe for the toast since I went on and on about it.
Olivias - We had lunch and breakfast at Olivias. LOVED IT. For lunch I had a mixed green salad with a raspberry vinegarette dressing and my DH had a PO Boy Shrimp sandwich. We also shared the key lime tart. It was very good and we had a great surprise. We really thought we were having dinner, but we were seated around 4:00 so we got the lunch price and the AP discount. Breakfast was good as well - I had eggs and pancakes and DH had an omelette. I would rate Olivias a 4. Good service, great food, reasonable prices. The key lime tart was to DIE FOR.
Raglan Road - It was our first time trying this wonderful place. We loved it. I had the burger which was fabulous. We had mussels for the appetizer..excellent. DH had fish and chips. The fries (a.k.a. chips on his plate) were the best fries I think I've ever had. Or, at least close to it. We loved the Irish music and dancing. This is a definite keeper for us. I rate it a 5.
Kona Cafe - We had breakfast here at our fave spot. I had to have Tonga Toast. DH got eggs and potatoes. We sort of split our meals so I could get a little protein with my sugary breakfast. This was, as usual, a great experience. We got a server who remembered us, and we remembered her. Her name is Beth and she was excellent. I give this experience a 5.
Tokyo Japan - This was an off-site sushi place near the Premium Outlets. We shopped on Monday because it was rainy and we stumbled upon this place. It was so good I had to write about it although it's not a Disney establishment. The sushi was excllent - as good as Kimonos at the Swan. Nice thick delicious pieces of fish. Very clean. Miso soup was excellent. If you like sushi - try this place. It's near the Grand Hilton timeshares in a shopping strip with a Publix.
Alfredo's - We had lunch here in Italy. We sat outside which was a very nice touch. It was good - not mind-boggling good, but good. I got a mixed green salad, DH had fetticine alfredo which we shared. We also had a tomato and cheese appetizer. The service was slow at first, but it picked up and we were happy. I had a great drink called Bellini. It's sparkling wine with peach nectar. Very good. I would rate this experience a 3.5. It would be a 5 for atmosphere but the food sort of brought it down a notch or two. The food was good, just not GREAT.
Beaches & Cream - I had lunch here by myself before my DH arrived. A year or so ago I had a burger here and I was so mad because they had changed their delicious burgers to the pathetic square Pecos Bill's type of burger. So, I hadn't been in awhile. I decided to try it again because we use to love this place. I'm happy to report that the good burgers are back. It was fabulous. The bread was so fresh and the burger was thick and juicy. Thank goodness! I give this a 5. Thanks to B&C for bringing back the good burgers.
That's about it - we snacked some and had some food in the room otherwise.
All in all we were very pleased with our dining experiences. I'd be happy to answer any questions.
