Hello! We just wanted to pop in and say "thank you" for all the good advice we received through this board as we planned our recent (Dec 8-16) trip to DLR. We loved the Christmas decorations at DLR and are so glad we have experienced that once. And yes, Pirates is better, the holiday overlays for IASW and Haunted Mansion are brilliant and DCA has hidden treasures that shouldn't be missed.

We had a lovely stay at the Grand Californian (we stayed concierge and I've been amused by some of the observations of the crowd scene around that time...it was busy in the lounge, but we were treated so well by the CM's).

We had some mechanical failures with our son's equipment (he is disabled and uses either a wheelchair or a walker, both of which had problems while we were at DLR) and the CM's went out of their way to help.

Our DS's (age 9, yes...twins!) have both agreed that jet lag and the lack of Test Track lead them to suggest WDW for our next Disney trip (what?!? we're having another Disney trip? Hooray? Did anyone tell my husband yet?!?). My husband LOVED California Screamin' (rode it about 10 time thanks to the single rider line). We both loved the convenience and flexibility of the closeness of the parks to the hotel.

As with WDW, the CM's made it for us. They all went out of their way to make our holiday as carefree as possible. Special mention to the guys as Houdini's Magic at DTD who taught our disabled son so many tricks, followed by Jim at the magic shop on Main Street who actually bought our son a trick with his own money (he didn't see me pass over the $), and to Scott at the CGH concierge who watched all these tricks with patience and delight and showed our son some tricks of his own. Finally a huge thanks to the CM's at the Stitch's videophone who totally mesmerized our son (and had us both in (sorry) stitches! We came for a return visit and laughed even more, shared a magic trick with Stitch and exchanged addresses!

But I do have to admit that we all enjoyed a little giggle as we strolled through the parks in our long sleeved t-shirts and shorts...as all the wonderful, friendly gang from Southern California shivered in their toques (that's hats, BTW!), gloves and ski jackets...guess you would not have enjoyed skiiing with us a few days ago in the beautiful, below freezing temperatures?!?

Again, thank you for the planning advice. It really helped!

It sounds like you had a wonderful time. My son also really enjoyed the magic shop in DL, but we did not find the one in DTD. I don't know about Stitch's videophone, but will have to find it next time for sure.

We arrived just as you were leaving. We also had shorts on part of the time.

What is stitch's videophone?

Sorry, I got the name wrong - it's actually Stitch's picture phone. Here's a description from a website. We didn't get offered a picture, but we did trade email addresses with Stitch (no mail yet, though!).

Stitch's Picture Phone - interact with Stitch in Hawaii via a "satellite videophone" - he'll talk to you and answer your questions! At the end they'll take a picture of you and give you the web site address so you can find your photo on the web.

I also found this youtube clip which gives you an idea. Stitch really did a wonderful job making this a personal experience for my son.

Hi, it sounds like you had a great trip...just wondering what were the crowds and wait times like?

Hello! The crowds on the weekends, especially Saturday, were far bigger than during the week. Also, the crowds were all at Disneyland, not DCA. Unless you were in line for Nemo, the wait lines were really very good, and non-existent at times. That being said, our ecpereince of wat times etc is a little different. One of our sons uses a wheelchair, so we were often using alternate entrances and didn't see the full line. Based on the times posted, it seemed quite light. From what we saw, if you got there early-ish and made Nemo, Indiana Jones, Space and other headliners your priority, there was lots of time to see everything else. Actually now that I think of it, the Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World were also good ones to do early - and they were faboulous!

Where is the Stitch Picture Phone? We've been to DL twice, and have never seen this!

ETA: Thanks for writing up your TR, I enjoyed reading it! :)

Sorry, I hvaen't been on in several days. Stitch's picture phone is in Innoventions, in Tomorrowland. Head towards then Asimo demonstration - and don't missing seeing that, either!
