Short & Sweet Thailand TR

Today was our last day. DH's friend and his mum were going to church in the morning, so they dropped us off in the city to have a look around while they were at church, then we all continued on to the airport. We weren't quite sure what we were going to do, but we found a little mudmap showing some temples and stuff in the area and thought we'd check it out.

The old part of the city is enclosed in an ancient city wall.

There were heaps of lanterns and decorations around to celebrate the festival.

Believe it or not, I am not usually a big temple person - places like Angkor Wat are more interesting due to the 'ruins' factor. However, there were some pretty spectacular temples around and I was actually quite impressed.

There were some signs of the previous night's activity.

We had quite a nice couple of hours wandering around the city on our own, and finished up with yet another frappe.

DH's friend came to get us and soon we were at the airport saying goodbye. We were able to do all our exit procedures at Chiang Mai so we wouldn't have to worry about it at Bangkok. Then we went to the Bangkok Air lounge to fill in the time. We were slightly late leaving and had a very long drive to the terminal in the bus at Bangkok, so only had time for one drink at the Qantas lounge by the time we found it! Other than that, our flights home were fairly uneventful.

Thanks for reading along. Hope you've enjoyed my short and sweet TR!
