Hi all,

I'm going to post some very short reviews from a quick trip I just got back from. My sis and I came down for Night of Joy from 9/8-9/12. We stayed at CBR and did not have the dining plan because we knew we'd be on the run for the concerts two nights of our stay.

Day 1 Dinner was at the Rose & Crown in Epcot's Great Britain pavilion. Sis had the shepherd's pie and loved it. The base mixture of lamb and veggies tasted like a rich stew and the mashed potatoes on top were creamy and delish. I had the bangers and mash, which had those same yummy potatoes, three delicious sausages that were mild in flavor, and really good sweet/sour cabbage with bacon on top. Sis had reisling and I had a Guinness - perfect compliments to our meal. We ate on the patio and had a great time and great service!

Day 1 Snack was a Dark Chocolate Covered Caramel with Sea Salt from the Caramel Kuche in the Germany pavilion. We had it cut in two to share, and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. The caramel wasn't too sweet, nor was the chocolate, and the sea salt really brought the flavors together. Yum-O! I definitely recommend it.

Day 2 Lunch/Dinner was at Rosie's All-American Cafe in HS. We split an angus burger and fries. The burger was huge and had bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, and onion rings on it. It was really good, and the wheat bun didn't fall apart. The fries were delish Disney yummies.

Day 2 Snacks were soft serve waffle cones from the stand outside of the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, and hot pretzels in the MK near the Cool Station in Tomorrowland. Both were really good.

Day 3 Breakfast was a GIGANTIC cinnamon roll from the Bakery on Main Street in MK. Oh, heaven. It was so good - the frosting wasn't too sickly sweet, it had just the right amount of cinnamon, and that bad boy was definitely big enough to share - about 6" square and 3" high. Sis also had an iced vanilla latte and said it was really, really creamy and good.

Day 3 Lunch/Dinner was at Columbia Harbor House in MK. We ate upstairs and it was nice and quiet up there, with a great view! We split a lobster roll and chips, which was pretty good. It tasted more like imitation crab meat to me, but nevertheless was tasty. We also split a fried fish and shrimp basket with fries and coleslaw, and all of that was really good. The shrimp were especially good - next time, I'll get an all shrimp basket.

Day 4 Lunch was at Flame Tree BBQ in AK - one of my all-time favorites. We both had pulled pork sandwiches and coleslaw, which were as delicious and HUGE as always. I totally love their sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. We also shared an order of onion rings that were big and crispy - plenty to share.

Day 4 Dinner was at Shutters at CBR. Sis had the chicken with a ginger-mango sauce, and it was juicy and delicious. She had boniato and rice and beans on the side, and loved both. I had the boneless short ribs in a curry sauce over boniato, and it was topped with crispy onion rings. This was truly delicious... the curry sauce was mild but flavorful. The boniato is mashed white sweet potatoes with plantains, bacon, and onions mixed in -fabulous! We also had white sangria with peach shnapps in it... slurp. Mmm mmm good.

I've got to dash, but will write just a few more reviews from day 5 as soon as I can!

Continued...

Day 5 breakfast was a quick one in the CBR food court. Sis had a yogurt parfait and said it was really tasty - she thinks the yogurt was homemade Greek yogurt, and it had big chunks of strawberries and good crunchy granola. I had a chocolate croissant that was very flaky and sweet - good stuff.

Day 5 lunch was at Wolkfgang Puck Cafe in Downtown Disney. Sis had a pocket sandwich that had roast beef and caesar salad fixings inside it. She totally loved it - it was huge, and the pita pocket had really good garlicky flavor. She had fries on the side that were crispy and delicious. I had the penne alfredo with chicken, bacon and peas. It was rich and creamy, and a huge portion for lunch.

All in all, we enjoyed everything we ate! It was interesting to go without the dining plan. I definitely didn't eat as many desserts as when we have it. ;) That might not be such a bad thing.

Glad to hear you had a great trip. Thanks for the report, I was excited to read you had a nice meal at Shutters, I don't ever hear of anyone eating there and it seems like a cute little place.

Also, I have always wanted to try Rose & Crown, so it's nice to see it got a good report. My husband loves Shepherd's Pie.
