Well, the bad poetry in the title notwithstanding.....
We are just back from 9 days/8 nights in a cabin at Ft. Wilderness. Here are the bullet points, and if anyone has any questions, I would be happy to try and answer.
We arrived to checkin around 10am on a Sunday. There were cabins available then, but not in either of the loops we requested. Since we had some errands to run, we said we did not mind waiting. What errands you might ask, well Mother of the Year (yours truly) forgot her child's antibiotics in the car BACK AT HOME. Anyone ever flown with a 6 year old with an ear infection, and only 1 dose of antibiotics in him? Not fun, I do not reccomend it. Anyway--I had to call our insurance, find out where we could get a replacement, then find the place, then call the pediatrician...Many thanks to a fellow DISer for the head's up on the new Publix, there was also a Walgreens in the same strip mall area. We use Walgreens here at home, so it was a no brainer. Got the scrip called in, went over to the outlets, and shopped in the Disney Outlet for a bit. Got the prescription, called Ft Wilderness, and the cabin was ready at around noon (cabin 2502--GREAT location, more on that later). So we did our shopping at Publix, and headed to our Home.
We dumped the bags, put away the groceries, and headed to the TTC for a monorail tour before our dinner at Chef Mickey's.
(first night tradition and all)
Anyway, to more of the Campground info. Our cabin location was SUPERB. Loop 2500, cabin 2502 (2nd cabin in on the left). We were literally 40 steps to the bus stop in one direction, and 40 steps to the pool/laundry area in the other direction. The bus service ran from 7a-2a everyday, and we had no problems navigating the internal busses when we chose not to use our own rental car.
We had a great time hunting (with cameras people
) armadillo, peacock, and all the other assorted critters. Our maid service was great, we only had them come in everyother day, and they just kept leaving us these GINORMOUS bags of towels. Our last 2 days of service we had a magician with towels, and she made a canoe (with our DS's stuffed animals riding in it), a swan, and on the last day, an alligator, that literally took up a third of the bed. Too cute for words!!! And DS's dinosaurs were in the windows each night to greet us!
The trip was great, if there are any specific questions I can try my best to answer them.
Thanks to everyone for all your help and encouragement on staying at FW.
