My uncle died last year and was kind enough to leave something to his nieces (myself, my 2 sisters and 1 cousin).
After months of faffing about by the notary (that's the way it goes in Belgium) I have just been told how much we're each getting and how much the Belgian state is getting in inheritance tax.
Belgian state get €9500 from each of our shares
We each get €6000
In other words, more than half of our inheritance goes to the state. Greedy gits (pardon my french). Over here, we would have gotten the full amount 
Oh well, still very happy with what we are getting, but just not happy to have to give so much to the government.
