We are new to the DVC and are planning a trip in **. Looks like we are * point(s) short of being able to add on a * night stay. Any suggestions from anyone? Are there any other options that I am not thinking of?

Well 1st off. Where and when are you staying? Are you borrowing points from 2011? Because if not that is an option.

I am not 100% sure about renting or borrowing points, so I cannot help you with that.

I have a couple of suggestions. Try to do a split stay at two different resorts. Pay cash for one night, maybe at a Value if you group can fit into one room.

I hope these help.

The OP's post had to be edited with details removed so as not to be construed with a "seeking rental" post.

You don't rent points, you actually rent reservations. So you could rent one night, pay cash through MS or pay cash through CRO for that one night, perhaps with an AP discount.

You can borrow your points from the following use year. The problem with seeking another member to "transfer" points to you is that there is a limit of only one transfer in or out per year.

This is all assuming you are unable to borrow ** from the next use year, which would be the best and easiest way to approach this problem...

The only way for you to get ** is to have another member transfer to you. You might luck out and find someone who has ** points left over that will expire - not enough for a booking, but enough to be willing to do a transfer so small.

Another option is to rent one night's reservation. Renting means that the person who owns the points has to make the reservation and is in control - the points remain in their account. This might mean problems with switching rooms (no guarantee you'd be able to stay in the same room), plus if you are getting the dining plan, it will split up your plan. Not a big deal, but another issue to contend with.
