I am getting the kids shirts made for our upcoming early December trip. Would you do short or long sleeve?

Thanks!

Pack both been there when I wore short sleeves and shorts. The next year it was flat out cold wore long sleeves, long pants, and a coat the entire trip. Normal weather it warms up during the day does cool off at night wore long sleeve shirt at night and shorts. I'm used to cold winters were I live and Florida weather was warmer but it can get down in the 30s and 40s.

We are going the first week of December. I've ordered long sleeves but, I'll take short sleeve tops as well with a cardigan to put over them in the early morning and evenings.

Short!!

They can always throw a long sleeved t-shirt underneath the new t-shirt. And, if you hit it lucky like I did in December 2012 and get 80s all week, they can wear it alone.

Layers.

Do the matchy shirts on short sleeves, and bring long sleeves to go under.

Because knowing the average low does you absolutely no good when you hit a week or so where that "average" is brought lower. Like our first time in WDW when it was actually freezing a few times. Sickeningly cold. Even if you're coming from weather just like it at home, you're probably not out 10 hours a day riding rides and walking closeby to large bodies of water (remember WDW was built in a swamp, it's ALL water surrounding you), eating different foods, not drinking enough water, and usually not getting enough sleep.

Layers will be good!

Yep, I'd get short sleeves and buy them a little big so they can be layered over long sleeved as needed. We've been twice the week of Christmas. First time it was absolutely beautiful and we wore shorts and t-shirts. Second time it was downright freezing and we wore coats, hats, and gloves.

I'd go with Disney short-sleeve tee shirts and a couple of solid, long-sleeve tee shirts and/or turtleneck shirts. Layering is best for Winter in FL!

It will always get colder once the sun goes down, so maybe a polar fleece vest or pull-over for each child. Light weight to carry around, though we usually use a locker for our January trips to hold outerwear etc so we don't have to go back to our room just to "get warm".

Have fun -- want to go between Thanksgiving and Christmas one year, just haven't had a chance yet!

Short sleeve with a very light jacket. You can take the jacket off and put in a carry bag when/if it warms up during the game.

I am doing all of our personalized T-shirts short sleeved because we can always add something beneath or on top of to keep us warmer. I would hate to be stuck in a long sleeve shirt if it is 80 degrees (or even mid 70s).

I'd say short sleeves and bring a sweatshirt just in case. During the day, it can be warm and it will usually cool off evening and night.

Last time we were there first week of December, it was record cold for 2 days and then the rest of the week was int he 70's.

December 2010 we had to wear coats, hats, gloves, and we were still cold! Record low while we were there.....28 degrees!

Wow! Of course that is probably an exception. I think I would take the risks and if that happens Disney would get lots of my money buying there extreme cold gear. But yes at 28 degrees you would need heavier jacket, gloves, hat etc. Now if there is enough luggage space (assume flying) you could always bring the really cold gear just in case there are record lows again.

Short sleeves. Wear short sleeves and then a lightweight sweat shirt over and then have an additional jacket for over that. The mornings can start out a bit chilly sometimes even when the afternoon gets hot.

My generic weather advice for FL winter is to check the weather report before you go and pack accordingly. Then, no matter what the forecast said, make sure you have packed two cold weather outfits and two hot weather outfits. That way, you can make do no matter how wrong the forecast ends up being.

*We were there the last week of Nov and start of Dec last year and only needed pants once, at the start of the week. There were actually two days which were too hot with the humidity factored in! (And I'm in the southeast where it gets hotter and more humid than FL in our summers). We've done the second week of Dec before, and didn't need pants at all. However, we sometimes started out with light jackets on in the mornings. Our three end of Dec trips alternated between shorts and pants. We've only had one dreadfully cold trip - it was the end of Jan/start of Feb of 2010.

From personal experience, bring at least a sweatshirt. Back in 2007, we got caught in a freakish cold snap (47 one morning) that resulted in EVERYONE getting a new sweatshirt and hat. That was a pricey mistake (but I still wear my sweatshirt and hat)!

Also, how you pack is dependent on how your body heat is and where you live. I.E.: Minnesota 50 degrees is much different that Southern CA 50 degrees (shorts versus sweaters).

When we went in dec-jan we wore short sleeve t-shirt, sweatshirt, and fleece jacket. With pants. Layers are key. Mornings and evenings were chilly, but the mid day warmth was sometimes tshirt weather (I'm from northern IL, where it was currently 30°).

One day it was COLD and we wished for hats, gloves, and our thick coats, but the rest of the week was fine.

My parents lived in Gainesville, FL, and we live in Indiana, so we have loads of experience traveling to Florida in December. Usually, just about anything goes with weather, to be honest. A couple years ago, I bought one of the light weight packable down jackets to bring with me to FL, because we went in December that year, and it was so cold, even with layers and a fleece hoodie, I was not comfortable. But, I didn't want to pack my outside jacket, that would take up my whole suitcase by itself. Almost inevitably, I guess wrong on the weather and either bring things I don't need, or have to buy something that I didn't think I'd be needing (one year, it was a bathing suit). As I recall, it was the same trip that I could have used both the down jacket, which I didn't have yet, and the bathing suit. Have fun!
