short on points...

I am short some points for a stay at one of the DVC hotels. Is it less expensive for me to pay a cash ressie thru CRO (how much can I expect to pay) vs/or ask here on the boards to rent /buy points from a fellow DVC'r? Thanks!!!

I think it will depend on the type of room you are going to be staying in and what season and what night.

It may be cheaper for you if you are looking to pay for cash for a weekend night versus a weeknight.

If you are only short a few points, it will be much better to rent/transfer if you can find someone to do that. Someone here needed just one point a while back to make their ressie, and I just gifted one to them, since I had 3 that were kind of hanging out in left field. On the other hand, if you are staying in a 2 bedroom or larger and need enough points for an entire night, then you might be better off paying the DVC discount for that night IF it's available for the time you are going.

We are short for an upcoming trip. For our first night we decided to stay at POFQ to get a feel for that resort. We'll then move to BWV. We could have stayed at one of the value resorts, but decided to try something different.
