We are planning our first trip as a DVC member in 2008. We're planning DCL the week of Thanksgiving and a few nights at SSR. The problem is we don't have enough points for the whole trip. Does anyone have any advice? I have read a few posts on borrowing points? How does that work? Would that be the best way to go?

I appreciate hearing any advice you can give. Thanks.

First, welcome to the DISboards! Also Welcome Home! :)
At best you're breaking even using points for the cruise versus paying cash.
If it were me, I would pay cash for the cruise and not borrow any points. :smokin:

I borrow points all the time for my trips. We tend to go every other year and use loads of points. I don't think about the money value of the points and just use them. If you borrow from your next use year they cannot be put back so make sure that you do when your plans are in place. Also I look at our next trip and ensure that I am not going to take points away from future vacations.

I agree. I would borrow the points if they are certain they won't want them in the future.
If they will use them in the future, the most logical place to conserve the points is where they won't receive a benefit for using them. :smokin:
