We were at DW Mar 9 - Mar 15, and had the basic DDP. We had three adults - DH, myself and DS - 16, and one child - DD, who turned 9 on our first day.
I loved the DDP - no worry if something costs $5 more than something else on the menu - just order what you want.
Mar 9 - Sunday - We were at AK, and for lunch ate counter service at some little window in Africa. Should have eaten at Flame Tree, but DH didn't want to. Nothing impressive here.
We ate at the Tusker House buffet for dinner. I just didn't care for it. Maybe the foods were too exotic for me? DD ate a PB&J. I can't even tell what the items were that we ate, but I wouldn't eat here again...Today was DD's birthday, and she had on her birthday pin. As we finished eating, the waitress brought over a cupcake with a candle in it. She led everyone in our area in singing happy birthday. I thought it was nice, but DD said she was embarrassed. We were seated right away with no wait. The service wasn't overly impressive either. Not horrible, just not really good.
Mar 10 - Monday - This was our MK day. We ate lunch at Cosmic Ray's. We all got the ribs and chicken combo platter, and it was pretty good. We all cleaned our plates. I believe it came with mashed potatoes instead of fries, which was nice change from most of the counter service places.
For dinner, we ate at Liberty Tree Tavern. I have seen mixed reviews on this place, but I thought it was really good, and we all enjoyed it. We saw all the characters there that night, some of them twice. There were Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale and Minnie. The potatoes were delicious. I didn't care for the green beans, but DH really liked them. All the meats were very good as well. I didn't really care for the mac and cheese though. The only thing we didn't care for here was the dessert. We got apple pie and ice cream, but the apple wasn't warm. I've always had apple pie ala mode with warm apple pie so the ice cream would melt, and that's what we expected. We got to this reservation about 15 minutes early, and had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. Service was okay, not good, not bad - just okay.
Mar 11 - Tuesday - We were in MK again for half the day, and had lunch at Pecos Bill's. Pretty good overall. We ate at Raglan Road in DTD for dinner, and were seated within 10 minutes of checking in. Service was great! The waiter was running a little behind, so a bartender came over and got our drink orders, and brought our bread. DS had a steak, which he said was okay. Now a note here - DS works at a VERY, VERY good steakhouse, so that doesn't mean the RR steak was bad, just not as good as at his employer. DH got salmon, which was okay, not great. I got the pork loin platter, which was pretty good. For dessert, I had the Bread & Butter pudding, which was not as good as the hype I read on here. It was not as moist as I expected. Overall, okay, not great. I can't remember the desserts that DS and DH got, but they aren't listed on Allearsnet. We had great service here. Only problem, I asked for water, and got a big quart bottle, which wasn't covered on the DDP, and had to pay OOP.
Mar 12 - Wednesday - This was our Disney Studios day. We ate lunch at the Backlot Express. All was fine - nothing overly impressive, then again, nothing we threw away.
We had dinner at Mama Melroses's. Now, I've seen some pretty scathing reviews on this place, and had considered cancelling our ADR. I'm glad we didn't. We had the Fantasmic package, so we got appetizers here too. I got the breads, DS got the soup of the day, and DH got calamari. All were good. For our entrees, I got the Wood Grilled Chicken pasta, and DH got the same with shrimp instead of chicken. Mine was really good. The peeling was still on the shrimp on DH's. What?!
I've never seen peeling still on the shrimp, even the tail, when mixed in with pasta. DS had the steak. Again, he said it was okay. DD had a cheese flatbread pizza. I was afraid she wouldn't like it, but she ate the whole thing. For dessert, I had the Creama Lemone, which was REALLY good. I don't remember what the others had. Sorry.
Mar 13 - Thursday - Epcot for today. We ate lunch at different countries and shared the meals. I would skip Mexico and Norway. I really liked our plate from Morocco - it was a combo plate with chicken and lamb.
For dinner, we ate at Le Cellier. I had to try the cheese soup I've read so much about, and it was very good. DS got a NY Strip steak. This time he was impressed and said it was very good. I got a filet, but wasn't overly impressed. I tasted some of DS's, and his was much better. DH got salmon, and said it was very good also. Better than the salmon at RR. For some weird reason, DD wanted a hot dog. She NEVER eats hot dogs at home, but whatever...We all had creme brulee for dessert, which was good. DD had a make your own sundae, pretty much just ice cream with some sprinkles. She didn't want the chocolate sauce or dried bananas.
Mar 14 - Friday - We took the day off from parks, and had lunch at POR where we stayed. I had the make your own pasta, which I loved. I would definitely recommend this is you like pasta. DS, DD and DH all had chicken strips, which they polished off. For dessert, we had apple pie ala mode. The apple pie was HOT this time, and was very good.
For dinner, we ate at Cap'n Jacks. We all three got the twin lobster tails. I've seen some pictures where they looked pretty small, but they were plenty big. We had only a 5 or 10 minute wait here, and the service was really fast - almost felt rushed. Anyway, the food was really good, and the waitress very talkative and friendly. DD got a PB&J. Our desserts were good too. We had cheesecake, Key Lime pie, and chocolate cake. We liked them all. DD liked her smoothie too. I would eat here again for sure.
That's it - short and sweet reviews. Hope these help someone out. Any questions, just ask.
