Would anyone like to offer me any suggestions?

In particular, I'm curious to hear feedback on the submarine excursion on the Grand Caymens (the cheaper one!) and the 7-hour ruins excursion in Cozumel.

Or are either of these not worth it and we should consider something else...

Our cruise is May 2005!

We enjoyed Capt Marvin's on Grand Cayman. We had a wonderful time and would recommend them to other cruisers.

For Grand Cayman check out the websites of Captain Marvins, shore excursions .com, nativewaywatersports. com and i'm sure there are other , all offer competitive rates for stingray swim etc and most have cruiser specials, all a lot cheaper than dcl, the feedback on the dcl trip for mayan ruins was that it was a very long day, not a very informative guide and that costa maya ruins were better, didn't do it myself so only passing on info. Have a wonderful time.

We just did the 7-hour Tulum ruins excursion. Here's a link to my web site; just scroll down a tiny bit until you see the pages from our cruise, and there is a page with pics from our Tulum excursion.

If you have any questions, just ask! :)

We LOVED the "Royal Dolphin Swim" in Cozumel, booked through Shoretrips.com. It was worth every penny - a once in a lifetime experience !!

Thanks for all the info!

Let me ask this....

I am not one to Snorkel (Unwillingly so - I have asthma) BUT my hubby loves it! If we did the Stingray thing, do you HAVE to snorkel or can you just wade around in the water?

Also, SeaSpray, what was your take on the 7 hour Tulum ruins excurison? Did you think it was too long and not very informative?

I felt that way about my Discover Atlantis excursion; the guide really didn't have much to offer and half the group went off and did their own thing.

I've done a lot of research on Stingray City and you don't *have* to snorkel, you can just be in the water with the rays. :)

We enjoyed the Tulum ruins excursion. Each leg of the trip (the ferry from the ship, then the bus to the ruins, and vice versa) did not seem long at all, and the day moves along at a good pace. Our guide was VERY informative and spoke through the entire bus ride to the ruins. Once we were at the ruins, he stayed with us and explained the designs and symbols on the ruins. In fact when we first got to where the actual ruins are, he took us under a small shaded hut and explained a lot of what we'd be seeing, then we all walked together to many of the ruins where he would point out very specific detailing on those particular ruins, then for the last hour we could explore on our own, including visiting the small beach area there. He was with us on the bus, on the way back, too, and he would answer any questions that anyone had. We thought he did a good job. There were many opportunities to ask him questions, if you had them. He also went and bought the permit for our video camera for us (when we first got to the ruins), it cost $4 I think. And no, we didn't think it was too long, it seemed just right, as far as time went. :)
