Hi. Just wandering, has anyone bought anything at the Brick? We went their today, just to look and see what the prices were for a new bed for Dh and I. Well the sales lady was basically at the door to get her business, she ended up following behind us the WHOLE time. We got fed up and walked out, and darn, they had some nice furniture. I came home and even sent them a email.

I have not bought anything from the Brink because I have 3 different friends that have, and they all have had problems. All 3 purchased sofas. All 3 had problems (fabic ripping, greese from delivery, premature wearing, and little customer service after the sale.) I have been to look and thought I liked some of their stuff, but I don't think the quality is there. I don't buy much furniture, I tend to buy something hoping it will last at least 10 years. I haven't heard about anyone buying a bed. I would check out their return policy etc.

Happy shopping
:)

My dd worked at the Brick, and she said they were trained to follow customers. She hated that part of the job, and after the 3rd customer yelled at her she decided to just hang back and let the customers come to her, she had more people come to her for sales after she took that approach then she had doing it the "Brick" way, her managers were not too happy with it and actually took her into a office and yelled at her for it. DD found sales people there way too ruthless to each other and decided that was not the kind of place she wanted to work at...so she took my advise and is going to College now.

Yes I have bought stuff from the Brick although I won't any more. They did nothing but tick me off this last time. So I will not be going back. We bought and paid for some furniture and they told us that it would be in on a certain date and we even had to pay for delivery to our house. Well we got the first stuff then waited and waited for the last 2 things. I called and they told me that the one item was at the wearhouse and the other was still on back order. Well I looked at my receipt that I had and on it says special orders are garunteed 7 days delievry after they come in. Well it had been sitting at the wearhouse a week when I finally had phone and I made them add me to their delievery (which was still a week away) and canceled the other order as it would be another 2 months before it would be in (a total of 4 months wait). The one thing about them I find that is when you want to buy something you can't find a sales person but if you are just looking they are breathing down your neck. We prefer to shop at Leon's the service seems much better and not as high pressure. Sorry for my rant but they annoyed me to no end on this.

Don't go back to the Brick!!!!! About 12 years ago I purchased a wall unit from them using the "don't pay for a year" deal. Turns out the guy who sold it to me was part of a ring of credit thieves. What he did was take all my credit information then he stole it from The Brick. It was a nightmare. I started to get calls from credit card companies I had never heard of (Bank of Hong Kong, GM credit card etc) wondering why I hadn't paid my bills. I never got any statement from these places because the guy had all the bills directed to a post office box. He went around getting cash advances on all these credit cards. Luckily you aren't responsible for the bills if you can prove it was credit card fraud which I was able to do because I saved the business card from the guy at The Brick. A mountie ended up interviewing me because they had been after this ring for quite a while and was one of the few people who could i.d. the guy.
I had to go to the credit bureau and clear my name. The guy even opened up cards saying I had a spouse (which I don't) and I had to clear everything up. It was a real mess.
I called The Brick to complain and the manager basically told me he didn't care and the guy was no longer working for them. No apology - nothing. Needless to say I have never darkened The Brick's door again!:tinker:

We bought a fridge from the brick a couple of yrs ago and had so many problems - everything from them forgetting to order our fridge, to getting the wrong one, then it arrives with a big dent, and we got the run-around from customer service, etc. etc. We vowed not to ever go there again. Then, just a few months ago we bought a futon from United Furniture Warehouse not realizing that they had been bought by the Brick!!! (and again, terrible service- but the futon seems fine as far as i can tell) I was just kicking myself for giving that darn company our business again!!!

We went looking for new furniture in October and they followed us around like hawks. I hated it. i couldn't say anything to my husband without the salesman right there with comments. Ugh. It was irritating. We went to Leon's instead. Free delivery, great service and good furniture. We're very happy with what we purchased and didn't feel any pressure to purchase it!:thumbsup2

I pre ordered all the appliances for my new house five months prior to the delivery date. Two days before the delivery date, they called and said my fridge would only be in in a few weeks. Keep in mind that I was moving into a new house with no appliances. Two weeks without a fridge in June with a baby is unacceptable. I tried talking to somebody by phone to fix the problem, but it didn't work. We finally had to go to the store talk to the manager and refuse to leave until the problem was fixed. It was such a hassle that we are never buying from The Brick again.

Went there when we were looking for a couch. Walked around with 3 different people following us. Will never go back.

This is so funny, because we just moved in to our new house on Thursday. We purchased $4000 worth of funiture from them on Boxing Day and we were told that shipping in March would be no problem. So begins my Brick Hatred

They were supposed to deliver on Friday and we are sitting around waiting for them, when we get a phone call from the delivery guys wondering where are street is. They had put down the stores Postal code (which is Toronto) and we moved to Stoney Creek. We called and flipped out on the store we purchased it from because we now had no sofas, no bed, and no washer and dryer. They rushed the delivery to Hamilton but we had to receive it on Saturday instead.

Saturday comes and the delivery arrives on time but 1) our leather sofa is ripped and the wood is broken
2) they sent the wrong washer and dryer and
3) we received our reclining loveseat but our sofa is on back order

So more yelling continues between us and the store and the leather sofa will arrive next week, who knows when the reclining sofa will be in (it was supposed to be in the warehouse by Tuesday but it hasn't arrived yet) and our washer and dryer is no longer carried by them so they have to special order it from Maytag.

So, to make a long story short...... once this is resolved with them I will NEVER shop from them again. They only reason why we are getting half decent customer Service is because I know one of the office girls who deals with all the ordering and shipping. If I didn't who knows where we would be right now.

We were looking for a bedroom suite too and ended up purchasing a beautiful one from The Bay Home Store in Limridge at an amazing price. It's all mohagany wood and our dresser is custom made.

We had no problem with Leons either (we bought our fridge and stove from them)

Just my two cents.......

Wow, I'm beginning to think we are the only ones who have not had problems with them :confused3

DH and I bought a bed from them 2 years ago. Got a great deal. Delivery was on time and very professional. Last year we bought our big screen TV from them. Again, great deal and great service. We have never been bothered by the sales staff. I will agree that they are a little "aggressive" but my DH is 6'3" and around 300lbs so when they ask "do you need any help" and he says "no thanks, we'll come get you if we need you" they seem to listen :rolleyes1

When we bought our house we were given 1000.00 gift certificate for the brick from our builder. Should have known then that that was odd. Went to the brick to get a sofa and DH and new dresser because his was from when he was 6 still. We order everything and have it delievered after we move in. The balance was to go on my CC with the 1000.00 gift cert used. Sofa came fine but the legs on the dresser were broken, they sent it back and 2 weeks later new one comes, legs broken same thing. I call the store, yell, 2 weeks later a new one comes, legs broken. I call, get hung up on apparently it must be us breaking the legs while the delivery guys are still there)

I go to the store and speak to the same manager and refuse to leave till I get my money back. Because I dont want this stinking dresser now. Finally get our $$ back and when our CC bill comes for the remainder of the sofa they never applied the 1000 credit. Lovely. So back we go to the brick, yell some more nothing happens so I called our Credit card and explained what happened and that the charge was more than I had signed for and they took care of it.

Never ever ever again will we go to the brick

Ill take the time and put the stuff together myself from Ikea

When we bought our 1st house the builder had a deal with The Brick where you'd get a percentage discount on the price of furniture and appliances. Because this was a special arrangement between the builder and The Brick, the purchase has to go through the store manager. The customer rep for the builder calls The Brick while we're sitting there in her office and puts the phone on speaker and made us an appointment with the manager from The Brick --- the builder rep even marks it on their calendar too.

We go at the appointment time and the guy isn't there. Called the builder rep and they confirmed we had the right date/time/place. Not a major deal we figured that we'd just reschedule so we leave a message to reschedule.
The Brick manager calls us back --- and starts going off --- says that was the wrong date/time and that we must be idiots, "can't you read a calendar", etc... (some swearing included.) A little bit shocked we hung up and called the builder who had set up the appointment. They called the manager to confirm that we had the correct date and time. The Brick manager called back all apologetic saying it must have been an misunderstanding --- offering an additional discount for our trouble. There was no way we'd have ever bought anything from The Brick again so we said "Thanks, but no thanks" ... and went and spent our $15000 on appliances and furniture from a couple of other local stores.

That was enough of The Brick for us.

Never had a problem with the Brick but prefer Leon's. They have better customer service, are very friendly, follow up on your orders and send thank you notes. Always a pleasant experience. The furniture there is very comparible to the brick.
