Hiya

I was wondering if any of you have experiance buying DVDs in the states?

I honestly dont think I have ever looked at dvds as I didnt think they would play but now I have a compatible dvd palyer and tv.

Ideally I was wanting to pick up some disney dvds, as well as charmed box sets and house box sets (twi series I love but am never home to watch)

Any ideas the best palce to buy etc or any advice

Hi

We've always got our DVDs from Best Buy - I think they are the most reasonably priced, there is a store opposite the Florida Mall, they sell everything from cds, dvds, tvs etc so you should be able to get what you want.
:thumbsup2

Virgin Megastore at DTD would have the biggest range of DVDs.

As Johnny said, Virgin in DTD have a big range. We bought some DVDs there last year and I was pleased with the prices. I'm sure you could get them cheaper elsewhere but we were pleased with the prices. We bought 2 Seinfeld box sets and were thrilled with those! They were 38 dollars per set. It cost 70 euro here at the time for Season 1 & 2 (that's 1 box set) which is about 85 dollars so we made a great saving. We bought some movies too for around 10 dollars each.

I find DVDs have gone down so much in price lately though anyway but for those box sets, you will get a good deal.

On the off chance that you have an AP, Virgin give a 10% discount.

You could also check Walmart online to get an idea of the prices they charge for DVDs. www.walmart.com

Walmart, Publix and SuperTarget all sell DVDs :thumbsup2

There were many that we found to be no, or little, less expensive than at home :confused3
As DebIreland says prices have come down so much at home :sunny:
The box sets did work out cheaper though.

We found that we could buy individual DVDs online in the UK for the same or less than the price of DVDs over there - even in Best Buy or Circuit City.

However, if you want the very latest films, they do seem to be released on DVD over there more quickly then over here.

I was just hoping that the charmed series and house series would be cheeper over there, especially as I want to buy 7 box sets of chramed

If you have a multi region dvd player and like Charmed may I suggest an australian dvd supplier as its out on r4 dvd for seasons 1 - 6 now and season 7 is out in June cost about 18 pounds or so. The US is only up to season 3 or 4 at the moment. Just checked and here is a link, have used this firm now for about 4 years with no problem by the way.

Works out at about £16.42 after you take their sales tax of so they are below the customs limit.
