Shopping pass?

I remember some talking about this. On the day we leave they are having a Precious Moments signing of a new figurine, a little girl with Minnie. Very cute, I want! LOL At the China Closet in DL. It starts at 9am.

Not only is a few hours before we need to be at the airport, it's also a blackout day on our AP's!

Is there any way to get the "shopping" pass to go in and buy the figurine? I could just have DH run in and get it for me. We wouldn't mind them holding a credit card or whatever they need to.

I've done that before. They gave me an hour & held my drivers license while I got what I needed.

go to Guest Services, it's over towards CA, there are bathrooms, lockers and GS. Let them know you'd like a shopping pass and they will let you in. You'll get a pass but you have to give a CC number, if you're not back in X amount of time they will charge your card. I've heard you also have to have a receipt but since I've never done it I don't know. Good luck!

I did it in December and they had me go to Guest Services by Disneyland. You need to tell them what you're going to buy and they'll take your credit card number. They'll have you sign a receipt that says if you don't check back in with them at Guest Services 1 hour from when they issue the pass(and this includes how long it takes to get into the parks) they will charge your credit card the cost of a one day ticket to Disneyland.

In my case, I had guest services call to verify that the big figure I was purchasing was in stock. They even pulled it so it was waiting for me when I got there. After you purchase your item(s), you take the items and the receipt back to Guest Services and check in with them. They do ask to see the receipt and ask how much you spent. I think it's mostly for tracking purposes.

The shopping pass is really convenient, but it's worth remembering that it's only good for one hour, so if you're going for a special event signing or something like that, keep in mind that your time is extremely limited. I don't recommend using the shopping pass to shop, but rather for picking up something you already know you want. I would try to avoid multiple shops, especially if they're not located near each other. I had to get some photos on the day I used it and the line there had me a bit anxious about making it in time after picking up my big figure. I ended up with about 5-10 minutes to spare, so I recommend avoiding multiple shops unless they're very close together.

Yeah, I wonder if I'll have a enough time to buy it. Maybe I can just get the figurine and skip the signing part. That would work for me.

You should have plenty of time to get just the figurine without much problem. Assuming the figurine is being released in the Disneyana store, perhaps you could explain your situation to a CM there ahead of time and see if there's anything they can do to help you get both the autograph and the figurine.

Find out when the signing starts and see if you can stagger your time in there to pick up the figurine, get right in line, have it signed, and you're on your way. You could always watch the clock and set a time when you have to leave, whether or not it's signed. Good luck.

off topic a little but I was wondering can you get in early just to eat at one of the restraunts?

OP, from what I have read about other special releases and autograph events, I really doubt if the shopping pass will work for you. I've read of line-ups for hours, and you have to be in line to buy the thing, even if you're not getting it signed.

I don't know how popular Precious Moments stuff is, and I don't want to discourage you from trying, but I also don't want you to think this is 100% doable on a shopping pass.

One wonders if a $40 blockout pass for those hours might be worth it?:confused3

I used a blackout pass last summer when I bought some artwork released on one of my blackout days. (I should have bought the premium AP because of the merchandise discounts, but that's another matter).

By using the blackout pass, I was able to get the artwork, stand in line and chat with other guests about what they were hoping to buy, and best of all, meet the artist and get to talk with him about the story he was looking to tell with the piece. I did not have to worry about getting my piece and getting out, so I enjoyed the time and spent a few more hours in the park before I needed to leave.

I would talk with a CM in the store where the figurine is being released the day before it's released. Explain your situation and see if it's possible to get the figurine before you have to leave for the airport. If it is, than I would count the price of the blackout date as part of the cost for the figure. Certainly cheaper than having a shopping pass expire.

I didn't think about the lines for something that! True, that would be a problem I think. Well now that I'm down here, I actually like a few that I've seen, that's already out. Probably more then the one coming out. So now I'm just trying to decide between the Minnie and a little girl in the tea cups, or a little girl on Dumbo. LOL They are both adorable, and odds are I'll buy both. LOL

Best way to get that answer is to call Disney Dining and ask about the first PS you can get at Carnation or Cafe Orleans (that's all I can think of for non-character right now).

I know that Ariel's at DCA has PSs before their park opens, but that's character meals, and I've heard that Plaza Inn's character b'fast starts before DL opens. But I don't know about the non-characters.

Aww,Thank You! I could not for the life of me figure out the name (Carnation).

I had walked by and seen a woman enjoying pancakes or waffles and they looked so, goood. I thought they only had those in Plaza Inn. ;)
