Shopping in cozumel.

Just wonder if the shops remain open late as we are trying to plan our visit and thought we would do a bit of sighteesing and perhaps shop later in the evening. Is this possible and any ideas would be welcome.

Most of shops that are close to the pier stay open until 9-9:30ish. The ones further down the road close usually around 8-8:30. This is what we were told when we were shopping during our 2/26 cruise. We were also told that a lot of this depends on foot traffic. If there are a lot of people still shopping... they stay open later.

When we were there, during the day we had walked back to the miniture golf place and then shopped our way back to the ship on our way to lunch. When we went back later in the evening to do more shopping/looking, we found that all the smaller shops and street vendors had closed. The stores that were open were mainly commercialized stores with higher prices and basicly the same kind of items. If looking for jewelery, of course you would want a nicer store, but we were looking for souvenirs and I regretted not spending more time shopping in the smaller stores on the side streets and street vendors.
