Aloha,

My friend and her family will be coming to Anaheim for 12 days starting 9/23. She plans to spend alot of time in Disneyland; and visit Knotts; 6 Flags; Universal; and Sea World. Anything missed?

And although we live in paradise, our island has no chain stores...only Mom and Pop shops (we don't even have a McDonalds!). Therefore she will want to shop - especially at outlet malls. Are there any nearby? And do they have a Disneyland outlet store, like the one that they have in Orlando?

Mahalo for any info you can give me to pass on to her,
Donna

I'm quite surprised that nobody has replied to this as of yet. BTW, I just got back from Kauai, and it amazed me how few chain stores were on that island.

So here you go. Shopping is plentiful. You probably know that there is quite a bit of shopping at Downtown Disney, some at Knott's, and City Walk at Universal. As far as malls close to Disney, theres Main Place in Santa Ana, which is about 10 minutes down Hwy 5 (I believe). And there's also South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. It's about 20 minutes away.

On the way to San Diego, there's a pretty big outlet mall in Carlsbad. You'll probably see others along the way. If you are staying in San Diego overnight, you might also want to check out Horton Plaza too.

Southern California is huge and very spread out. I believe that all of these choices are the best for you. As with every shopping mecca, most of these places will have many of the same stores, but they are still worth checking out.

Have Fun

Mahalo for the information. I will pass it on.
And I hope you enjoyed yourself on Kauai. :D

Another outlet mall to check out would be Ontario Mills off the 10 freeway(Milliken offramp). It's a good drive but worth it. If you do plan to go, get there early. Even though it's a big mall, it gets pretty crowded! Also, Kohl's is another store worth looking into. They're clearance priced stuff can be very inexpensive.

Hi....I love to shop and I'm from the area originally.

Yes there is a Disney Character Warehouse in Fullerton.

Here are directions, I think they're from the MouseEars web site:

The Harbor Blvd. one is highly variable; I've gotten great stuff there and seen it full of a wide variety of merchandise, and I've gone in to find it with very little in stock. It is on Harbor, just north of the 91 Fwy, on the east side of the street; I think it is in the Orangefair mall (basically a strip mall). However, just north of it (just across the street to the north?) there's an In 'N Out, so it is a great place to stop before getting lunch or dinner at this CA institution

I highly recommend Ontario Mills... Also Cabazon Outlets (almost to Palm Springs), smaller outlet mall Citadel off the 5 fwy

Many great malls: South Coast Plaza, Santa Ana Main Place Mall, and many, many more....

Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks,
Susan

If you go to:

www.outletbound.com

you can find outlets in any state, with directions and offers for coupon books.

I always start there when I'm planning a shopping detour. ;)

p.s. I live on Oahu, where, at least we have WalMart! :)

Good luck!

Mahalo again for all the help.

And Henduck, when is the new Walmart opening? It may sound sad, but I plan to take vacation and stay at the Pagoda and literally shop til I drop...

I think it should be opening soon. I don't know for sure, but I hear they are accepting job applications. Maybe by Christmas?? But it will be in the news for sure!

Have fun Gram!

Although it isn't outlet... South Coast Plaza is some great shopping. I grew up down there and after we moved, we would go down for school shopping (and to visit family) every year. The have the full range!

I was visiting the gray Line bus tour site www.grayline.com , and this sounded fun !
