Shopping for a new TV and Roku??

can I ask a question about the roku? Can you only use it on select apps or can you do say go to www.abc.com and find and watch a full episode of Once Upon a Time?

Roku has a popular (and free!) app called PLEX which allows you to view programs from various networks --- ABC, NBC, CBS, CW, WB, to name a few. A previous poster mentioned Hulu+, but I believe that requires a subscription.

...today's Blu-ray players (particularly, Sony models) are loaded full of apps (and just about every Blu-ray player on the market has, as a minimum, the app trifecta of Netflix/Hulu Plus/Vudu).

IMO, if you are shopping for a new HDTV, I would forego the Roku box, and buy a Blu-ray player (which can be had for well-under $100 -- some are now getting close to the $50 mark).

And since a Blu-ray player will also play (and actually improve) your DVD collection, I would also retire the old DVD player, which only would leave you with one add-on device to manage...

I would avoid low cost Sony bluray players. We bought one and it only lasted a few months before the buttons broke.
