I have been looking at mixers and have found the Sunbeam Mixmaster and the basic Kitchenaid mixers. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these mixers. I don't use a mixer too often, mostly around the holiday times and really do not want to spend much over $100.

Your thoughts?

I have a kitchenaid, but its over the $100 limit...

I love it and have a couple different attachments.....it works great when cooking with the girls as its very stable and they can help!

I love my kitchenaid, but its over the $100 mark. This time of year, they do have sales, but I'm not sure if they ever get that cheap.

I was in the same boat that you're in now. I wanted a stand mixer, but didn't want to pay for it because I'd only use it around Christmas.

Well, I was wrong.

DH bought me a top-of-the-line Kitchenaid mixer. It came with a second bowl that they'd engrave for me. But, they screwed it up so many times, I wound up with 4 bowls.

Anyway, it lives on my counter and I use it at least 3-4 times per month... sometimes more.

It was really worth the, I think $300-400 investment, although a $179 Kitchenaid mixer would have been just as good... but I love having the extra bowls. It helps at Christmas time with all the cookies.

Kitchen-Aid - it's the only way to go.

I love my Kitchen Aid  . It's nice to turn it on and be able to walk away from it while it is doing all the work for you. Making Christmas cookies is no longer a chore. I just used the dough hook for the first time about a week ago. I was making slippery potpie and was starting to make the dough by hand like I always do. DH says,"Why don't you use the mixer????". So I threw everything in, turned it on, and don't you know it turned out some really quick and easy dough!!!!! :teeth: No more dough by hand  .

I am in the same dilema right now too!! My hubby wants to get me one for Christmas and I LOVE  the pink Kitchenaid mixer. I love the idea of a pink major appliance. I am soooo 1950's fixated. I always wanted my kitchen to look like something from a Doris Day movie...

The Sunbeam at Sears was only like $100 and the Kitchenaid was about $ 250. Hmmm I wonder if I can find a turquoise blender  ?

When I told my DH a few years ago I wanted a stand mixer he came home with a Sunbeam. It was nice and worked well mixing cake batters and such but it wasnt powerful enough to make divinity. Now I have a Kitchenaid and I love it. It is worth the extra money.

I love my KitchenAid -- have had it 15+ years with NO problems --well worth the investment price. It's so easy and convenient to use, I think you will find yourself using it more often.

My grandmother had a Sunbeam, but I don't think it handled larger amounts or heavier mixes as well as my KitchenAid.

My KitchenAid was an Xmas gift 2 years ago and it is so great- I think it it worth the extra expense. It matches my appliances and I just love it!

My DH bought me a Kitchenaid for Christmas years ago. If I had it to do all over again, I'd get the exact same one. It is so nice to make cookies and not hurt myself mixing dough!

There is a store called Kitchen Collection (has a website for online purchases) that sells refurbished Kitchenaid mixers. They run about $100 off retail for the same mixer. Once it is out of the box who knows it was refurbished? For our Florida home I bought a 6 qt. 525 watt mixer from them and love it! It could mix concrete if it had to! It is well worth the money to get the best, most powerful one you can afford. (I also have a 5 qt. 350 watt Kitchenaid in NH. It is excellent but can't handle a really big batch of dough for sweet rolls like the FL one does.)

We got a Kitchenaid for a wedding gift from coworkers. We haven't used it yet :rolleyes1 but we will be soon and are thrilled with the appearance and the attachments we can get for it.

I"ve got the pin k KitcheAid, love it. And they make a $50 donation to the Susan G Kormen foundation when you purchase it.

When I started getting serious about cake decorating, my parents actually bought me my KitchenAid mixer as a Christmas gift. I LOVE my KitchenAid!!! I had one of those cheap stand mixers and I would kill the poor thing trying to make icing. With my KitchenAid, I can make 7 batches of icing, one right after the other, and it doesn't even bat an eye! The recipe I use requires that all of the ingredients be mixed together at once for 10 minutes. I can throw everything in there, set my timer, and walk away! I get sooooooooooooooooooo much use out of my KitchenAid!!

Can you tell how much I LOVE my KitchenAid? ;)

Wow, it sounds like Kitchenaids are the way to go. I did see one this weekend, it was the "low end" of kitchen aid, it was $159.00. I knew if I asked the DIS I would get lots of opinions! Thanks.

Kitchenaid. It will pay for itself. I use mine all the time, and it looks and works like the day I bought it.

I have been waiting for my KitchenAid for years. Two weeks ago when we were coming back from the Newport Aquarium we stopped at the outlet malls.

There in the Kitchen Collection store was a refurbished, red Professional HD mixer. It was $189. My DH said, "You have been wanting this, let's get it."

I love it!!! It's even better than my sisters Kitchen Aid!!

You will not regret buying one, even if it's refurbished. Mine works great!
Just keep the receipt and if anything goes wrong the salesperson said Kitchen Aid is really good about fixing or replacing things.

Kitchen Aid is the only way to go in my opinion. I bake thousands of christmas cookies every year and used to wind up with sore arms and hands from all the mixing. Now with my Kitchen Aid I can do twice the cookies in half the time. I also cannot believe how it mixes dough.

I have tried Sunbeam and a stand mixer by Farberware and returned both.....like many of you I was not going to spend all the money on a Kitchen Aid. Now I am SO glad that I did!

Happy mixing!

Linda
