Shopping at Epcot's World Showcase

My DS(17) asked if the items sold at World Showcase are actually from the particular countries? Like from France's Souvenirs de France, the Eiffel Tower statues to China's Yong Feng Shangdian selling silk robes and prints. I would assume all items sold in the shops are indeed from their particular country, but you know when you "assume"..........ha ha
Any favorite cheapie trinkets? ya all like? (medium priced items too)

LOL we bought a mikey head antenae topper from Italy, and it said on a little sticker "made in china"....so umm, even though it was an italian flag, it was made in china

The only place that I actually know the items came from the particular country is Japan. I spent 1 month in Japan after my freshman year in High School on a trip and was so juiced to find all of the Japanese treats at the Japan WS! I always have to go to Japan to get my Pocky, gummy peaches candy and hello kitty trinkets!

I am sure that they do import "Japanese" things that are actually made in other countries.

The items in most of the shops are directly from the country. Of course, you have to watch some of the lesser-priced items as those countries use cheap labor just like the rest of the free world. I love shopping in EPCOT for items that otherwise I'd have to travel to the country to get.

The finer items in France, Italy, England, Norway, and Japan for sure are authentic. I love getting special Guerlain cosmetics at France--ones not even offered in the US or only in 1 or 2 stores in NYC, if that.
Around the last Olympics, the Canadian sportswear sold in Canada was "hot" because that was the vendor chosen by Team USA to outfit them. Great opportunities to splurge!!

I know the items in Germany are from Germany. They had "diddle", a cute mouse character I saw over there but never saw in this country, and candy bars that I've only seen in Germany, not here.

Does your DS know the CMs there are actually from the countries too? I know I enjoyed talking to the CMs about where they were from on our family trip when I was in high school.

I like the trash shopping in China's showcase. Lots of junk for sale! But, I live in a city w/ more than 1 Chinatown, so unless it's a really good deal or very unusual I usually pass.
