Shoppers Drug Mart Covid Test Updated...

I would be nice if they added Manitoba. The cost here is atrocious for Antigen tests. It costs a minimum of $169 here to get an antigen test & $250 for PCR, It's absolute BS that ours is over $100 per person more than some other provinces.

Agreed! I’m from MB too. Two people I know who just travelled went to the drive through sites and then called health links for some sort of print
out the official results. Okay for now while no one is getting tested and results are quick, but not sure what I’ll do for our possible October trip.

Interesting, I didn't think you could use those tests for travel. Was the print out they got accepted for travel?
My son got tested on Tuesday at 5pm and he had his results early Wednesday afternoon. Granted it is pretty slow right now, hopefully things don't start picking up here again.

Don't you have to call HealthLinks and describe your symptoms in order to book a test?

No, you haven't had to do that since the beginning of the pandemic. Most test sites are drive thru with no appointment.

https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/testing/asymptomatic.htmlOdd. Nothing here says that asymptomatic testing is recommended or permitted...

You're correct about not needing a referral any longer, however:
Who can get tested?
  • Individuals, from Manitoba or or visiting from out of province/country, experiencing symptoms can seek testing at any of the available testing locations throughout the province. They do not require a referral from Health Links - Info Santé or their family physician to be tested for COVID-19 at a community testing site.
    • This includes anyone residing in Manitoba, regardless of immigration status: and includes refugee claimants, migrant workers, international students, dependent children of temporary residents, and undocumented residents. These individuals should bring some form of government-issued photo ID, such as a passport, in order to be tested.
  • Individuals are encouraged to use the self-assessment tool to be certain they meet the necessary testing criteria before going to a community testing site. If you have symptoms that are not typical of COVID-19, but are worried, please speak with your health care provider or call Health Links - Info Santé at 204-788-8200 or (toll-free) at 1-888-315-9257.
  • Asymptomatic testing is only offered to individuals in certain situations, including:
    • When admitted to hospital for non-COVID-19 related care, or newly admitted to a Personal Care Home, in an effort to limit introduction in these settings.
    • In certain outbreak situations, to identify and isolate cases to minimize further spread.
    • When a close contact to a confirmed case is directed by a public health official.
