We just got a new grocery store called Redners. People in PA, should know exactly what Im talking about, since it was started in PA and from what I understand there are a lot of Redners up there. Anyways, DH and I always have shopped at Walmart because it was the cheapest. Walmart has actually been cheaper then the commissary, so thats why we dont shop at the commissary. So Redners just came, had an open house couple nights ago. Its nice. DH loves it. I like it, but the prices are expensive on some stuff. Not like a huge price difference then walmart. Its either about $0.50 more then walmart, same price or some things are actually cheaper at Redners then walmart. Like I can get 1lb 90% lean ground beef at walmart for $3.98 and at Redners for $2.98. So Redners would win in the ground beef department. However, we love that there is a salad bar there at Redners. We're big suckers for salad bars, thats what sold DH! However, Redners carry things I have never seen at walmart so theres more variety. So which would you do? Shop at walmart for cheaper prices or shop at Redners for more variety, spend a little more money on somethings and save money on somethings.

I am from SW PA and I never heard of Redner's.:confused3 I would compare prices from both stores and buy what was cheapest at each one it might take a little longer to shop, but this is how I do all of my shopping.

I'm from the area where Redner's is based, and where stores are plentiful. I usually shop Giant Food Stores instead of Redners. I find the pricing at Giant to be better....with their Bonuscard though. But then Walmart has better pricing on some things too - like cereal.

There are some things available at Redner's that I don't find at Giant, so depending on what I need I shop around.

I am not a big fan of Redner's, BUT I do know lots of people that love it. The two located near me are both rather old and kind of dark. I prefer to shop at either Giant or Walmart over Redner's. The one Redner's is only about 5 mins. from my house, whereas, both Giant and Walmart are about 15 mins. - so when we need something quick, we head to Redner's. As far as best prices, I think you just need to shop around. If things are on bonus buy at Giant I can usually do better there than Walmart and Redner's. I have found some things to be better priced at Redner's though.

The Redner's gas is always pretty cheap, which we love! :thumbsup2

Shopping around is out of the question because DH hates having to go to 2 or 3 different places to buy our food. We go to 1 place and thats it. I suggested it, but he was like no way are we going to 2 different places. Pick a place and thats where we shop at. I would perfer to shop at Giant myself because thats where my mom used to shop at when I was growing up in MD and I liked that grocery store a lot. But unfortunatly they dont have a Giant anywhere around here. I think the cloest one is like 45 mins - 1 hr from me. And thats to far to go grocery shopping.

In that case, I would choose Redner's over Walmart. There is more of a selection at Redner's and I prefer their fresh meats and produce to Walmart's. In the end, you will probably spend the same overall at Redner's.
