Shoes?

What shoes are good in the parks? I have some Crocs sandals that I wear a lot. I know they will be comfy, but, will my feet get dirty? Are closed shoes, like sneakers better? Maybe I will bring both to switch.

Skechers GoWalks. I swear by them. I have 3 pair. They're insanely comfortable, lightweight slip-on sneaker-type shoes. My feet have never been so happy on a DLR trip!

You'll be fine. You're going to about the cleanest place on earth!

Ha! I have to disagree though. We spent 5 days in the parks last week. I swear by Bernie Mev shoes for walking the parks. DD, 8, and I both wear them. Been wearing them the past few years and I can go from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. in the parks without my feet even being tired at the end of the day (did it more than once last week). BUT, they are open across the top of the foot and the tops of both DD and my feet were filthy at the end of each day! Actually, the dirt splotches went above the feet and just abovt the ankles most days! Pretty much you are going to get dirty at Disney- just have fun and don't worry about it- that's what soap and water are for!

As far as which Bernie mevs- I do the comfi alot which is a peep toe, but at WDW in the winter I have done the closed toe, and last week I alternated between the Comfi style and the new sandal style they came out with this year (cindy or Cyndi maybe?) and they were both great. I did get stepped on a couple of times in the sandals, but that was mostly by DD.

I am taking my tennis shoes, 3 pair of old navy flip flops, and a pair of Dr. Scholls flip flops and they seem to be very comfortable but I def plan on changing out shoes especially if my feet start huting....I have to wear tennis shoes all day at work and I HATE wearing tennis shoes during the summer so I am hoping I can get by with the flip flops!!

I say anything comfortable that you don't mind having ruined by the end of your trip, since you'll walk several miles a day during your trip and may get them drenched with water.

I also suggest there's more dirt in the park then you might expect, especially at ground level (or seat-of-your-pants level on rides, too.) For example, beige or white pants can get grungy from sitting on Main Street watching the parade or a long day of riding rides. Darker colored sneakers or sandals would probably fare better.

If there is ever a time to invest in good shoes... a DLR trip is it. We always go to the parks wearing slightly broken in newer shoes and we all bring 2 pair that we switch off each day. Your feet take such a beating that you'll be so glad they have good solid footwear to help. I swear by KEENS. They are one of the only shoes that don't make my feet hurt after a few hours of walking. I think I may get Sketcher Gowalks before our next trip in December. They don't "look" supportive but I know so many high-maintenance-feet people, like me, who swear by them. Even with good footwear, bring Advil. I have to pop a couple near the end of the day or the beginning of a particularly sore one. Poor little tootsies...

I know crocs are supposedly "comfortable"... but I just can't do it. I can't put them on my feet... I can't... :scared:

LOL, the Crocs sandals are pretty cute. Comfy and not ugly.

I have no idea how so many people can wear flip flops all day in Disney. I'm so jealous! My feet would hurt so bad within an hour or two. Maybe bring a pair of shoes your first day in flip flops just in case...

I have a pair of Sanuk Yoga Sling 2 flip flops and they are absolutely the most comfortable shoes ever.

I never have an issue with dirty feet (other than the soles of my shoes obviously) at DL. I have worn Croc flip flops and tennis shoes. I think the key is to make sure the shoes aren't new, but aren't beat up and to switch them up from day to day.

Having had 4 back surgeries I have to be very careful with my footwear...for closed toe and sandals I like Sketches Go Walk. The closed toe slip on sneakers are what I wear to the park. I can comfortably (for me) do an entire day at DL in those. They are light and breathable. I personally don't wear sandals in the park. I don't like my feet getting dirty and I don't know how the toe piece would feel after walking all day. I think it wouls become irritating.
With the Go Walks I have noticed that they have to be fairly new and still cushy to be optimal for DL. I wore an older pair on our last trip and noticed a difference so I will make sure to get new ones before we go in October.

I must be the only person who can't wear their Gowalks to DL. I love them for errands, and running around town stuff...so soft and squishy!...but they just aren't enough support for me all day. My feet end up aching if I wear them too long. I switch between my Keen sandals (I like the covered toe. Either Venice H2 or Whisper) and my Asics Kayano, which I walk/run in every morning.

I actually had the same problem last year with the Go Walks. They seem to be great for running around short term but my feet never hurt so bad as they did at the end of the day after wearing them to the park. This year I am going back to my tennis shoes.

I loved my croc flip flops and at the end of the day my feet we not sore, jst tired from all the walking. Your feet will get dirty, but like I tell my kids your washable :goodvibes

Have a magical time!

I take a pair of Tevas and a pair of Nikes and switch part way through the day and/or according to the weather. Bring moleskin for any hotspots on your feet.

Comfy shoes are such a personal thing.

I literally LOL when I see women in high heels. It cracks me up :rotfl2:

Sketchers GoWalks are like walking on marshmallows. We call them our marshmallow shoes.

Super lightweight Nike tennis shoes are like wearing nothing, but with coverage.

Toms have more foot support than you think. I've done all day and night in parks in a pair of Toms

Good flip flops, like Olukai, are great on a hot day. Cheap rubber ones would never work for me. I have some Teva flip flops that are very nice too.

I always say you get what you pay for when it comes to shoes.

If you want sandals, any kind of Keen, Merrell, Clarks, Teva or something along the lines of that will get you through the day without messing up your feet. They are specifically designed as comfort shoes, and most of them I believe (aside from the ones that are made with things like leather straps) can get wet. You'll just want to double check that.

If you're looking for a sneaker, I wouldn't suggest the Go Walks as they do not provide support or the kind of cushioning you truly need when walking and standing for more than 4-6 hours. They're good for errand-running and brief walks, but not for Disneyland in my opinion. However, everyone is different and needs various aspects to a shoe to make it comfortable, so Go Walks might work for you. Personally, I prefer a walking/cross-training sneaker in a New Balance or an Asics. Nike can work as well, but all of those athletic shoes will provide much more arch support and cushioning (depending on what technology they use in the sole: Nike's "Air", Asics "Gel", foam, etc). A shoe with breathable material is great to have as well, so the mesh on the top that opens the material to help keep your foot cool is something to check out as well!

In the past, I have worn Birkenstock sandals which are very comfortable.

I am going in November, and want something that will work better in chillier weather (historically I go to DLR in the summer). I want to try these:

I can't vouch that they are comfortable all day at the parks since I haven't ordered them yet, but the reviews look good & they are super cute :goodvibes

Yay for Keens! :cool1:

I'm worried this will happen with Gowalks with me. I've never tried them because they look so flimsy to me but SO many people say they are great. I have very picky feet.

Keen sandals? Hmmm... I'll have to look into those.
