Shoes

Funny thing about Crocs (cover your eyes Rob) when I was seriously overweight I had a pair in several different styles and loads of colors (including two Mickey pair).

Now that I've lost weight, they hurt my feet! They rub blisters on them, so I only use them for running in and out of the house now (getting mail, taking out trash, etc.). I have one heck of a collection of "getting the mail" shoes!

I have wide feet with high arches so finding shoes that work for me is a real challenge. I did get lucky with a couple of different styles from Easy Spirit, but I'm afraid they aren't going to last very well. They don't hurt, do support but don't seem too sturdy.

I hate shopping for shoes more than I hate shopping for clothes. I'm so with Rosie on this one (well, up to the point where she discards her clothing - be very grateful I'm NOT a nudist  ).

Women's clothing is stupid, so I end up wearing my "Maine 1980s Preppy Look" almost to the point of it being a uniform. Who cares?!!! Not me! :goodvibes

I actually had this conversation with my mother on Sunday. Women's clothes SUCK. I go back to the tried and true "preppy look" too. I feel comfortable in it, and it looks neat and clean.

As for shoes-I have the required pair of Birkenstocks issued to every gay woman, Nikes, Converse-and yes-I own a pair of Crocs flip flops that I got at SSR last October. They're very comfortable and they tolerate getting wet very well. I don't like the clogs, but I do love those flip flops.

Is this where I confess? :confused3 I hate Birks. Rather, they hate my feet. :confused3 I must be the only lesbian on planet Earth that doesn't own a pair of them. :rotfl: No wait!!! My wife doesn't own a pair either. She doesn't like them.

But pleated trousers (most often from the men's department because of those GREAT pockets! :teeth: ) standard Oxford shirts, and blazer...that's me!!!

On weekends (now that I'm not a cow any longer :teeth: ) I've been known to actually swap out the pleated trousers for JEANS!!! LOLOLOLOL. Only in the cool months though. Florida is way too hot for jeans for me.

My partner and I have never worn a pair of Birks (or Crocks). I guess we both missed "shoe day" at our Lesbian 101 classes.

Oh hell no, you're not. Those things aren't touchin' my feet. :scared:

I am not a shoe girl, so take this for what it's worth.

I have 9 pairs of Crocs. I LOVE them. DH has Crocs, too. DS has them but he doesn't like to wear them. He says he will wear them, I buy them, then he won't wear them. Makes me furious.

At the parks I wear Crocs. I also have Teva Hurricane sandals and Teva Mush flip-flops. They can all take the August downpours. I am not a big fan of wearing flip-flops in the parks, but it works for some people.

Last year I bought CUTE sandals at Nordstrom (Merrill, I think) but they were not ones that could get wet. Every time I wore the damn things it would rain, so I gave up.

I do have Birks and have worn them at WDW, but they also could not get wet.

DS wore Ecco sport sandals last summer, and DH has Ecco sandals, too. I will say by about halfway through the trip DS's sandals REEKED, but that may not have anything to do with the brand.

Really, for $30 a pair the Crocs are awesome. Band-Aid makes a thing called Blister Block (actually I think now it is called Friction Stick - it has been repackaged) that I use to keep the Crocs from rubbing the bone on the side of my foot.

That's right "shoes".

I am planning a trip to Disney in late September that I hope doesn't get canceled due to the "economy".
I have heard that it may rain ALOT in September and someone suggested I try Keen's Newport H2.
Before I continue let me explain: As most of you know, I don't like clothes and I don't like shoes. This means that most of my wardrobe is gotten from my daughters or the Goodwill because I am loathe to spend money on something I don't even like. Hence, my whole lot of shoes probably cost me less than $100..no kidding..I only own about 4 pairs of shoes.....So the idea of spending almost $100 on these shoes is killing me ( but I really think they fit the bill of a great Disney shoe).

Any words of wisdom????

For the record James is encouraging me to get the shoes.....
Rosie, you ARE the only woman I know, with 4 pairs of shoes!!! LOL!! My DP would be in HEAVEN if I had 4 pairs of shoes!! That being said, I just bought some CROCS from their website. I got some Mickey crocs and the Athens, flip flops. BOTH from their clearance page!! Great prices and they are SO amazingly comfy!! Good luck ;)

All I have to say is Whew...thank goodness for the other CSP on here, cause I wear Crocks too......

There I said it.... My name is Star and I heart Crocks.....

I have 4 pairs....! Mammouth for Winter in black, 1 Beach in light blue for Summer and 2 Hallmarks in black and brown for summer 'fun'

Rosie...I was in WDW in Sept and it rained a little each day, but nothing that I would worry about shoes getting too wet....When we were there in Spet I work Old Navy flip flops....then I found out about crock and LOVE them. Sorry they don't fet your feet!

I don't like Birks either. Not enough support and frankly, they are ugly shoes.

For the record...no ones grateful that I am :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

No Birks for me either and I live in Portland where it's practically mandatory!

I hate to say it, but Crocs although ugly as sin, are so comfortable and not that expensive. For women, they come in SO many other designs that aren't as.......um, butt ugly.

Rosie,

Crocs are great! I wore them every single day in WDW last year. I have extra wide feet (to match the extra wide back end) and high arches so I need support and comfort or I am a whiney witch with a B.

Granted, they are not the cutest things but they are supportive and comfortable and that means more to me than cute.

I am wearing my pink ones with Mickey heads right now (I think Rob just fainted)....

LOL jenn I have those pink mickey head crocs!!! they are comfy,

I was so hoping the neighbor would drive by.........LOL

I have a couple pair of Birks, but I dont' like them anymore, I have some colorful plasticky ones for the beach, but they don't suit me anymore,
not even comfy to me anymore.

You're going to have your union cards taken away......

They have other styles besides the traditional 2 strap across the foot deal. You might find them less ugly. I was browsing the site today, looking for new ones for spring.

Nelson runs around the house in them sometimes... It is a flippin riot... The only thing better is when he wears my pink flip flops with the sequins....

You're working him up to your panties aren't you????

We have been looking at the Keen's too! can't decide if I like them...

what about reefs? you have to get the kind that form to your foot though.

I have birks, but they are doing the "job" recently either. I need a good arch support, and although they are ugly, they are one of the only sandals I can find with a arch.

Welcome to the boards Winue!

Tell me about "reefs". Which do you recommend?

Oh I just looked at them...not sure I can to the toe thingy....What would you call that? It's like a flip flop..what do you call the toe divider thingy??
